A non-governmental organisation, Okaha Women and Children Development Organisation (OWACDO), has trained men of different professions on the need to support and guide women, especially young girls, during their menstrual and menopausal health issues.

The executive director of the organisation, Joy Ijuwo, said OWADCO is working on a project tagged: “Voices of Change” to empower women through menstrual and menopausal health education in Makurdi and Guma local government areas in Benue State.

She said, “The Project aims to enhance the Health, dignity, and well-being of women by addressing stigma and misconceptions surrounding Menstruation and Menopause.

As advocates and amplifiers of community voices, your role in shaping perceptions and breaking long-standing taboos around menstruation is key to bringing real and lasting changes.

“Menstrual health is not just a women’s issue; it is a human rights, public health, and development issue. When girls and women are empowered with knowledge, support, and guidance in the proper ways, families thrive, communities grow stronger, and nations move forward.”

In a remark, Joseph Kwaghdega of Radio Nigeria Harvest FM Makurdi, who spoke on behalf of the media, described the training as apt, saying the media, as the voice for the voiceless, ensures that the enlightenment messages reach the nooks and crannies of the state and beyond for a positive change.
