The Federal Government has successfully brokered a peace deal between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). This agreement brings an end to the standoff that had threatened to trigger a nationwide strike.
According to the terms of the agreement, the Dangote Group has agreed to immediately redeploy all disengaged refinery staff to other companies within the conglomerate. This move will be done with no loss of pay for the affected staff, ensuring their financial stability during the transition.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, announced the resolution and emphasized the importance of respecting workers’ rights to unionize. He assured that no staff member will be victimized over their role in the dispute, providing a sense of security for the employees involved.

A high-level mediation team, comprising key government officials, facilitated the agreement. The team included the National Security Adviser, Ministers of Finance and Budget, and other stakeholders. With this resolution, PENGASSAN has agreed to commence the process of calling off the strike, bringing relief to the nation.
