A former Chelsea star offered career advice to England international, Harry Kane.
Former Tottenham defender Gus Poyet believes it would be a wrong career move for Harry Kane to join Manchester United, following reports that the Red Devils are a likely destination should the England international decide to return to the Premier League.
What Poyet said
In an interview with Goal, Poyet discussed Kane’s future, analysing likely destinations. He ruled out Arsenal, probably due to the Tottenham links, and dismissed Manchester United as a destination.
“If he goes to Man United, I won’t talk about Harry Kane anymore in my life,” Poyet said. “People talk about Man United, but this is not Man United in the last few years.
“He won’t go to Arsenal. The rest, I don’t know. I think people would take him back at Spurs as the player he is and the legend that he is.

“If he can go back and help the team in a certain way, score goals and get the record, it would be amazing. I’m not sure what will happen. Maybe he won’t go back. It’s very personal, so let’s see.”
Kane to Manchester United
The Red Devils were keen on signing Kane while he was a Tottenham player, before Bayern Munich snapped him up in the summer of 2023 for €110 million, a club record.
Kane has excelled at Bayern, scoring 102 goals in 105 games. He ended his career trophy drought last season, winning the Bundesliga title, and is on course to make it consecutive triumphs with how dominantly they have started this season.
However, with only 47 goals away from Alan Shearer to become the Premier League’s all-time top scorer, it is believed Kane will return to England to see out his career and has a clause in his contract which would allow him to do so, with Tottenham retaining the right of first refusal.
