Ruben Amorim has admitted that if Manchester United’s results do not improve, he is going to get sacked by the club.
The under-pressure Portuguese coach is facing a crucial home match against newly-promoted Sunderland on Saturday.
The Red Devils are currently 14th in the Premier League after losing three of their first six games this season.
Sources at United insist that Amorim has the club’s backing and that no replacement is being lined up.

Amorim speaks on sacking
When asked if he had received any assurances from the board, Amorim stated, as reported by the Sun, “I am not concerned about that, and nobody here is naive.”

“We understand we need results to continue the project,” he added. “We will reach a point that is impossible for everyone because this is a very big club with a lot of sponsors, with two owners. So it is hard. You can’t run away from the results.”
However, the former Sporting boss indicated he would not resign, stating his future is “a decision of the board.”

Amorim has also confirmed he has no plans to abandon his preferred 3-4-3 formation. “It’s not the time to say, it is the time to show,” Amorim said.
“I want to see my team winning or losing, playing the same way, and we are not doing that. My biggest problem is for my players to believe you guys when you say our problem is the system. I get crazy about that. I can point to the way we play different systems.”
“We need to play the same way, with the same power, the same intensity, the same focus. If we do that, the system doesn’t matter.”
“You fear losing your job when you have to pay the bills. I don’t have that feeling. I just want to continue this. Not winning games or failing hurts me most.”
Following last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford, Amorim’s record stands at just 34 points from 33 games in charge of United.
