Football and music are arguably the two avenues that have minted the most global superstars. Hence, when there’s a union between individuals from both spheres of life, it tends to explode the popularity of the loverbirds therein. 

Here is a list of footballers with musicians as partners or those who have previously walked the path:

1. David Beckham & Victoria Beckham (née Adams)

David Beckham met Victoria Adams in 1997. At that time, David was playing for Manchester United (a rising star), and Victoria was “Posh Spice” of the Spice Girls. David Beckham was about 21 years old; Victoria Adams was around 22 or 23. 

How they met:

They first met at a Manchester United match in 1997, when Victoria attended a game. They spoke in the Manchester United players’ lounge. 

There are stories about keeping their early meetings private (on parking lots etc.), and David reportedly saw Victoria’s videos and knew he was interested even before meeting.

Relationship Progression:

• They got married on 4 July 1999. They have four children: Brooklyn (born 1999), Romeo, Cruz, and Harper (youngest). 

Over the years, they became a very visible “power couple,” combining music/pop culture, sports, fashion, and business. Victoria’s transition from pop star to fashion designer and icon; David’s transition from footballer to global sports icon & businessman. (While not strictly about the relationship, these public-career crossovers are relevant.)

Current Status:

They speak in interviews about the ups and downs, maintaining commitment through difficult times, and supporting each other’s careers. 

2. Shakira & Gerard Piqué

They first met in 2010, on the set of Shakira’s music video “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”—the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Piqué appears in that video. 

Shakira, born in 1977, was about 33 in 2010; Piqué, born in 1987, was about 23. So about a 10-year age gap. 

How they met:

After the video shoot, there was an introduction, and Piqué reportedly texted her asking how the weather was, small talk that led to more communication.

• They had two children together: Milan, born in January 2013, and Sasha, born in January 2015.

3. Perrie Edwards & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The relationship was first publicly noted around late 2016/early 2017. Rumours in late 2016; confirmed in early 2017 when pictures began surfacing. 

At that time, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a professional footballer (Liverpool / England etc.), and Perrie Edwards was a pop star with Little Mix. Their ages: around 24-25 for Perrie; Alex was similar (mid-20s). (Exact birthdates: Perrie born 1993 → ~23-24 in 2017; Alex born 1993 as well, so same cohort.)

In January/February 2017, they posted affectionate things on social media confirming their relationship (e.g., a photo together in front of the Eiffel Tower with the caption “Him”) and attended awards/events together. 

They spent time together publicly and privately over the next few years and shared posts and public appearances.

As of April 2024, Perrie revealed the couple had never lived together during their entire relationship (eight years by then) due to conflicting schedules, locations, and careers.

4. Lamine Yamal & Nicki Nicole

• Lamine Yamal, born 2007, is a young Spanish/Barcelona footballer. As of 2025, he is 18 years old. 

• Nicki Nicole (Nicole Denise Cucco), Argentine singer/rapper, born ~2000 (so ~25 years old in 2025). 

Meeting Context / Early Relationship:

Rumours of their romance began over the summer of 2025. She was seen at Yamal’s 18th birthday party in July. 

On 25 August 2025, he posted a photo on Instagram (with a birthday setting) celebrating Nicole’s birthday, with affectionate imagery (cake, balloons, etc.) and a heart emoji, officially confirming their relationship publicly.

Relationship Progress / Public Confirmation:

Nicki Nicole confirmed the relationship in September 2025, saying she is “very much in love, very happy and very content.” She also mentioned that Yamal had taught her to say “Te amo” (or “I love you”) in Catalan (reflects some adaptation to his cultural environment). 

There was a brief unsettlement in early September 2025 when some rumours of a breakup came up (e.g., deletion of Instagram photos), but Yamal took action (showing his phone lock screen with a photo of them) after a match, which many interpreted as shutting down the breakup rumours. 

Current Status:

They have been publicly together as of late 2025. No marriage (too early, and given their ages). Public appearances and statements are affectionate; the relationship is fairly recent.

5. Ashley Cole & Cheryl (Cheryl Tweedy / Cheryl Cole)

Ashley Cole (English professional footballer) and Cheryl (then Cheryl Tweedy, pop star with Girls Aloud) first met in 2004 when they were living in the same London apartment block. Cheryl was already a known singer; Ashley was playing at a top level with Arsenal. 

Meeting Context / Early Relationship:

Cheryl got Ashley’s number via a Girls Aloud bandmate, Kimberley Walsh, who was friends with one of Ashley’s teammates. Their early relationship was public, with engagement, media attention, etc. 

Progression, Marriage and Issues:

They had a high-profile marriage; Cheryl was a judge on The X Factor, among other public roles, and Ashley in the public eye as a footballer for England/Chelsea/Arsenal, etc.

Their marriage was troubled: allegations of infidelity against Ashley Cole surfaced multiple times. There were stories in tabloids, separations, etc. Cheryl announced separation in February 2010, filed for divorce, and the divorce was granted on 3 September 2010.

The Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea and Spanish singer/TV presenter Edurne have been a long-running couple; sources record them as partners since around 2010.

 Long-term relationship → they married (public reports show marriage took place in Menorca July 1, 2023) and have a child together; Edurne is a noted Spanish pop singer and Eurovision contestant (2015), while de Gea was Manchester United’s long-time keeper before joining Fiorentina. 

7. Jamie Redknapp & Louise Redknapp (née Nurding)

Ages (10/04/2025): Jamie Redknapp — 52 (born 25 Jun 1973); Louise Redknapp — 50 (born 4 Nov 1974).

Jamie (Liverpool/Tottenham midfielder, now pundit) and Louise (former Eternal member, solo pop star) married in June 1998 after a high-profile relationship.

Progression

Married 1998 → two sons → marriage lasted ~19 years before they divorced (finalised 2017) after a long spell in the public eye; both have kept working in TV/entertainment/sports post-divorce. 

Their marriage is often cited in UK coverage of footballer-musician couples because both were at the top of their fields in the late 1990s and 2000s.
