Agun Gbenga, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo State, has passed away after collapsing at an event in Benin City.
In a press release over the weekend, by Afolabi Babawale the Public Relations Officer, NSCDC Headquarter, Abuja, he had been in attendance at a programme hosted by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center, where he delivered a goodwill message shortly before his sudden collapse.
Following his collapse, the late Commandant was rushed to the Military Base Hospital in Benin, where he was pronounced dead by medical authorities.
Tributes have begun pouring in, with NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR, paying tribute to the deceased’s dedication and service. “The late Commandant was an astute and iconic security expert who gave the best of his service to enhancing the security of the nation,” the statement read. “His dedication, humility in service, and intelligence earned him so much respect and admiration amongst his fellows.”
The NSCDC has extended its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Commandant Agun Gbenga, mourning the loss of a respected leader in the security sector.
