Five persons have died in an auto crash that occurred around the Alapoka axis along Papalanto Road in Yewa South Council of Ogun State.
Involved in the crash were an unregistered tricycle and a Dangote truck with registration number GRZ 767 XA.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi said that all five dead persons were passengers on the tricycle.
He said that the cause of the crash, which occurred last Friday, was due to brake failure on the part of the Dangote truck driver, who hit the tricycle, resulting in the death of the five victims.
The TRACE PRO said that the presumed dead had been taken to the morgue by operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Similarly, six persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in an auto crash that involved an 18-seater bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The bus involved was a Hiace bus with registration number ADK 405 AA.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said that the accident occurred last Saturday.
Akinbiyi said that 18 passengers were involved in the accident, and six persons (six adult males) sustained injuries, with no deaths recorded.
He said that the cause of the crash was that the propeller of the bus pulled off, resulting in the driver losing control of the vehicle and hitting the road divider.
The TRACE PRO said that the injured victims had been taken to Famobis Hospital at Lotto by OGSAES.
He added that the accident vehicle had also been towed by police attached to Mowe Division, while TRACE and police operatives were on the ground to monitor and control the traffic situation at the spot.
