President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has summoned the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, to the Presidential Villa over allegations that he forged his university certificates.
The development follows an investigative report by Premium Times which alleged that the minister did not graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as claimed in his credentials submitted to the Federal Government.
According to the report, Nnaji claimed to have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from UNN in 1985. However, findings revealed that he failed a key course Virology that same year and was required to retake it in 1986, making it impossible for him to have graduated in 1985 as stated.
Reliable sources at the Presidential Villa confirmed that President Tinubu directed the minister to appear before him to clarify the controversy surrounding his academic qualifications.
As of the time of filing this report, Chief Nnaji was said to be in the Villa meeting with the President to address the matter.
