Kemi Badenoch vowed to free police to catch criminals again as she said forces had focussed too much on ‘chasing tweets instead of thieves’.

The Tory leader pledged to axe ‘none-crime hate incidents’ and cut the amount of paperwork in order to get officers back on the streets.

Mrs Badenoch received a standing ovation at Conservative party conference after she promised to fight for victims of crime.

The party has already outlined plans to massively introduce controversial stop-and-search and blitz shoplifting blighting high streets.

The Tory leader told party members that ‘security and prosperity cannot exist in a country where the law is mocked, where crime is ignored, and where criminals laugh at justice’.

‘Right now, tens of thousands of police hours are wasted every year on ”non-crime hate incidents and form-filling,’ she added.

‘Conference, we are going to free the police to protect the public. Not to chase political correctness.’

She also criticised the amount of time officers were having to spend with mental health patients, which she said amounted to 800,000 hours a year.

The Tory leader pledged to axe ‘none-crime hate incidents’ and the amount of paperwork in order to get officers back on the streets.

She also praised Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary, who this year hit the headlines for chasing fare evaders on the London Underground.

As well as hitting out at policing the Tory leader also questioned the use of taxpayers cash on people with disabilities.

She told supporters Motability cars are ‘not for people with ADHD’ and the Tories would restrict eligibility for them to ‘people with serious disabilities’.
