Sowore Challenges Southeast Leaders to Join Protest in Abuja — Akelicious

Prominent activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has issued a public call for a massive, peaceful march to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In a statement released on social media, Sowore urged politicians, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and all Nigerians of good conscience from the Southeast to move beyond rhetoric and take action. “I will set aside my differences with some politicians for one cause… Time for action is NOW. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa,” he wrote.

Sowore specifically challenged Southeast leaders who have publicly expressed support for Kanu’s release, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Alex Otti, Peter Obi Gregory, and others, to join the march in person, calling for tangible demonstrations of support rather than empty statements.

He emphasized that the march will be peaceful, legal, and visible, stressing that it aims to demand justice and an end to what he describes as the persecution of Nnamdi Kanu. Sowore concluded his statement with rallying cries to supporters: “Chikena! Jisie Ike! #FreeNnamdiKanuNow.”
