A pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Okoloke, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, has been rescued by the Nigerian military from a kidnappers’ hideout.
The pastor, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was freed following a coordinated operation that targeted one of the notorious criminal camps terrorizing the Okoloke axis and surrounding communities.
Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday, noting that the rescue took place in the same community where Oba James Dada, the traditional ruler of Okoloke, was abducted earlier this year.

The monarch was held for 25 days before regaining his freedom from what is believed to be the same gang of kidnappers.
Gwamnishu decried the growing wave of kidnappings across the North-Central region, particularly in Kogi, Kwara, and Edo States, describing the situation as a national emergency that demands swift action from both government and citizens.
Today, Kwara, Kogi, and Edo States have sadly become the new operational zones for these armed kidnappers striking daily and mostly unchallenged,” he wrote. “Because it’s not happening in your state should not be the reason you’re not lending your voice. It’s time for urgent government and community action before more innocent lives are lost.”
