A Georgia dentist was found safe nearly a week after she was reported missing, according to police.
Dr. Melanie Nadler Litt, 52, was last seen on Monday, Oct. 13, according to Cobb County Police Department social media post.
She was reported missing the following day when she didn’t go to work, reported NBC affiliate WXIA-TV. Officers then conducted a welfare check and while her phone was there, both her car and wallet were missing.
Her friends told the outlet that her car was later found abandoned in a parking lot.
Although authorities have not released many details to the public, WXIA-TV also reported that friends said her husband, who was out of state, was the one who reported her missing.
An update came on Sunday, Oct. 19, when police announced that Litt had been found safe.
That day, a former patient recognized her outside of the Town Center Mall in Marietta, according to local Fox affiliate WAGA-TV.
“I asked her ‘Hey are you a dentist? Do you remember me by any chance you removed my wisdom teeth many years ago,’ ” Billy Robertson told the outlet.

“It was just a, you know, one in a million shot, I guess I’m good at recognizing faces,” said Robertson, who proceeded to call 911.

After announcing that she’d been found, police told Atlanta News First that “we would like to reassure everyone that Melanie was not in any danger, and there is no indication of foul play.”
Additional details have not been made public and police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional comment.
