Nigerian Afropop singer Adekunle Gold has opened up about the emotional and determined effort that went into securing gospel legend Yinka Ayefele’s contribution to his hit song, Many People.

In a recent social media exchange, Adekunle Gold revealed that Ayefele’s voice on the track was not sampled from an older record, but rather recorded specially for the song after a personal visit he made to Ibadan.

Responding to a fan who asked whether the gospel icon’s part was newly recorded or just a sample, Adekunle Gold explained, “I traveled to Ibadan to find him. I said, ‘Sir, I’d love you to record this song again for me and say Eja Nla no be small fish o.’ He said, ‘I’ll do it for you Dekunle.’”

The artist’s heartfelt story quickly went viral, with fans praising his humility and respect for the veteran musician. A video accompanying the post shows Adekunle Gold visiting several Ibadan-based radio stations, including Fresh 105.9 FM and Tiwa N’Tiwa Radio 106.5 FM, both owned by Yinka Ayefele. In the clip, the two stars are seen warmly interacting and posing together, confirming their collaboration.
