Monica Davis is sharing her candid truths about undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF).
The former reality TV star, who appeared on season 7 of Netflix’s Love Is Blind, opened up about her IVF journey on an upcoming episode of the What’s the Reality? podcast. In a clip shared with PEOPLE ahead of the episode’s release, Monica speaks with podcast host AD Smith about the grueling journey.
“We started in May, was our first cycle. So we’d been trying on our own for over a year at that point,” Monica says of herself and her boyfriend Zac, whom she met after filming Love Is Blind. “And now it’s what…almost October? And I just started our third attempt — our third cycle. I’m on day 3.”

Although she said that putting her journey online has been one of the most “comforting” things, Monica candidly shares that IVF has been very difficult.
“It just sucks, in a lot of ways. It’s very…you know, it’s one thing that your body is supposed to do. It’s not doing it,” she says. “And I think for me, I always knew it was going to be hard because I am 38. There’s some family history stuff that made me think…and we’d been trying for a year.”
“But no one really prepares you for the experience that Zac and I have had. A lot of people will say when I’m giving myself my injections and I’m in it, they’re like, ‘When’s your transfer?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, you need embryos,’ ” explains Monica.
“We have not even made it to a place where our embryos last long enough to talk about transferring them. So no one prepares you for that outcome. They prepare you for like, maybe they’ll transfer and you’ll have a miscarriage, which I can’t imagine. But no one prepares you to put your body through all of this, like the money, the time, the energy, and you can’t even by day 7…your embryos are gone.”
Fans of the Netflix reality show may remember Monica’s relationship with Stephen Richardson on the series, which was once a fan favorite. However, the situation changed when Stephen not only failed to show his former-fiancée PDA and affection during a trip to Mexico, but also revealed that he had been sexting another woman while he participated in a sleep test drunk.
After the series premiered last year, it was revealed by Instagram fan account, @therealityashley, that Monica had a new partner. The account shared a carousel partially showing her new love interest.
“So happy for you @monicajadedavis 🩷,” the account captioned the post — which showed Monica and a mystery man with a red heart emoji over his face sharing a sweet kiss at the beach. The page also featured a snap of a guy sitting in the audience at the reunion special, presumably Monica’s new beau.
She went on to publicly share she was dating her new partner in December, posting a video filled with clips of the two of them on her Instagram in honor of Zac’s 40th birthday.
“Happy 40th birthday to my person. Being so seen by you, so valued by you, and so deeply in love with you, has been one of the greatest joys of my life. 💘,” she wrote in her caption.
