NDLEA Launches Digital Drug Integrity Test And Visa Clearance Platform

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has unveiled a new digital portal designed to streamline its drug integrity test and visa clearance processes, making them faster, more transparent, and less prone to manipulation.

The platform, known as the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System (DITViCAS), was officially launched on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Abuja.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd.), represented by the Agency’s Secretary, Shadrach Haruna, described the initiative as “a paradigm shift in our fight against the scourge of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.”

He further stated, “It is a moment where enforcement meets efficiency, and commitment merges with cutting-edge technology.”

For years, applicants for NDLEA visa clearance certificates endured long delays due to manual documentation and verification. Marwa said the new system puts an end to those challenges.

“With the Online Visa Clearance Portal, we are delivering automation across all processes with secure interfaces for effective collaboration with partner agencies,” he said.

Applicants can now log on to www.drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng, create an account, book appointments at any available accredited centre, and receive their certificates electronically. According to the NDLEA, visa clearance will now be processed within three days, or a week in exceptional cases.

The NDLEA boss stressed that the new system eliminates certificate falsification and ensures transparency.

“With the E-Certification and Verification system, it establishes reliability and supervisory dashboards across our commands, formations, and headquarters,” he noted.

The portal also integrates background check protocols, safeguarding Nigeria’s international reputation and preventing drug syndicates from exploiting legitimate travel channels.

Beyond visa clearance, the platform has been extended to institutions, workplaces, and private individuals. Marwa explained that parents, schools, organisations, and even prospective couples can apply for drug integrity tests.

He emphasised that the initiative is “a non-judgmental pathway designed to support our national drive for demand reduction, fostering healthier communities, safer workplaces, and a more secure labour force.”

According to him, the test serves as an early-warning system to identify individuals experimenting with drugs, offering them intervention and treatment before addiction sets in.

The system also provides for private medical centres to partner with the NDLEA as accredited drug test facilities, increasing access and convenience nationwide.

“This new digital portal allows seamless application for drug integrity tests. It is proactive, compassionate, and data-driven,” Marwa said.

The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to the national War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, noting that the new system represents a modern approach to combating drug-related challenges.

Marwa said, “This initiative is proof that the NDLEA is committed to leveraging the power of technology to combat the evolving complexities of drug trafficking and abuse.

“The war against drug abuse is one we must win for the sake of our youth, our families, and the future of our nation.”

He called on Nigerians and stakeholders to embrace the innovation, insisting its success is a shared responsibility.
