Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has left fans in stitches after sharing a funny story about how he and fellow singer Ckay accidentally found themselves “stranded” in Peckham, South London, during an early trip to the UK.
Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, the Cinderella Girl rapper recalled how both artists, fresh off their flight and unfamiliar with London’s layout, ended up booking what they thought was a good Airbnb deal, only to realize too late that it was located in Peckham.
“Soon as we land in London, we discovered that the apartment was in Peckham,” Blaqbonez laughed, recalling his shock at the neighborhood compared to the posh areas they had driven through earlier. “I was like, ‘Eh! All the London we’ve been seeing doesn’t look like this!’”
The rapper said things got even funnier when they proudly told friends, “We’re in London!” only to be met with a puzzled response: “‘Where are you?’ and we’d say, ‘Peckham.’ Then they’d go, ‘Aye bro, what you doing in the ends?’”
At the time, the duo didn’t understand the local slang, until someone explained that “the ends” referred to a rough part of town. “That’s when we knew we couldn’t stay there,” he said, adding that they immediately packed up and began searching for another place to stay.
Blaqbonez and Ckay ended up hauling their luggage around the streets of London, “doing mandatory walking” while trying to find accommodation. When asked if he’d ever returned to Peckham, Blaqbonez burst out laughing and said, “Never again! Once bitten, twice shy.”
The interview clip has since gone viral on social media, with fans calling it one of the funniest celebrity travel stories of the year. Many praised Blaqbonez for his candid humor, while others joked about how “every Nigerian first-time visitor to London has a Peckham story.”
