NEED TO KNOW

  • Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa went wild after earning their first 10s of the season on Dancing with the Stars
  • The duo performed “For Good” from Wicked
  • Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesdays on ABC

The ballroom was electric during Wicked night on Dancing with the Stars.

As many of tonight’s contestants earned their personal best scores during the Oct. 21 episode, one couple got bleeped for letting their excitement take over on live TV.

Right after Jordan Chiles, 24, and Ezra Sosa snagged their first 10s of the season from the judges, the sound cut out of the live feed as they celebrated their success.

As soon as Carrie Ann Inaba shared her score (a 10), Chiles ran in circles around Sosa as he dropped to the floor. Derek Hough gave them a 9, and after guest judge Jon M. Chu revealed he gave them a 10, Chiles screamed, while Sosa fell right back down to the ground.

Once Bruno Tonioli gave another 10, they couldn’t contain their excitement. Chiles jumped into Sosa’s arms as he appeared to say a swear word as the sound cut out of the live feed.

Their overall score from the judges was 39/40. The only other contestant to score a 10 from the judges this season was Whitney Leavitt and partner Mark Ballas, who also scored a 39/40 on Oct. 21.

During her intro package, Chiles reflected on getting “the same scores” for the past three weeks, saying she “really” wants to get a 9.

As they prepared to dance to “For Good” from the movie, Wicked, Sosa acknowledged that doing a Rumba, which he called “the dance of love,” would be “very interesting” because they’re playing “friends.”

Chiles said she was “scared” because she hasn’t showed this passionate side of herself before, but said, “I feel like this moment is going to be my breakthrough.”

After their dance, Tonioli called their efforts “drop dead gorgeous” while praising the “finish” to her movements. In regards to the “performance value,” he said “Cynthia [Erivo] would be proud.”

Inaba said she didn’t “want tonight to end. My favorite night of all season.” She added, “It was perfection.”

Hough called the routine “so stunning,” praising her “quality of movement.”

“When we say be more grounded, that’s what we’re talking about,” he said, adding that “now I want to see the emotions even more.” He concluded, “Jordan, well done.”

Chu said the “trick” that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have on the set of Wicked is that they “work their butt off, they’re competitive, and yet they make it seem so easy.” He added, “I see that in you.”

He said that he previously saw Chils at the Olympics in Paris and that she had the same look in her eyes tonight. “You want to win this thing, I can tell,” he said.

Last week, during dedication night, Chiles honored her father, Timothy, who joined her for a Viennese Waltz to “Daughters” by John Mayer.

During her intro package on Oct. 14, Chiles explained that it was her dad who decided to put her in gymnastics as a child to help with her ADHD. “He helped start my career in gymnastics.”

While telling her story, Sosa broke down in tears calling their story “healing” because “I don’t have a relationship with my own.” Chiles said she appreciates that Sosa is allowing her dad to be one to him.

During Wicked night, Timothy and her mom, Gina, were cheering them both on from the front row of the ballroom.

Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
