Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim admitted that they were lucky against Liverpool, ahead of the Brighton clash.
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim spoke honestly about their result against Liverpool, insisting that the result does not change their fortunes or approach.
What Amorim said
The 2-1 victory against Liverpool was the first time in Amorim’s Manchester United spell that they won two matches in a row. Still, immediately after, the Portuguese tactician played it cool, stating that it did change much.
Ahead of this weekend’s Premier League game against Brighton, Amorim was asked about those comments and if they were targeted at their doubters.
However, he further explained himself, admitting that they were lucky in some instances; hence, they cannot make sweeping judgements from the results.

“No, what I mean is that we cannot change so much,” he said, per Goal. “I think they ask me about the top four at the end of the question.
“So, I don’t want to change so much with the difference of 20 centimetres. If [Cody] Gakpo shot 20 centimetres here, the narrative would be completely different. So, I just want to maintain some calm, some direction in what we are doing. That’s what I mean.
“There is doubts if you are a manager in this kind of club, [and] you don’t win a lot of games; people are going to doubt you. And they have reasons for that, but my point of view is that we need to be clear on our path and not change so much because we win one game, that’s all.”
