Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has urged Nigerians to embrace religious tolerance, saying no faith should be seen as superior or inferior to another.
Naija News reports that Fani-Kayode made the remark on Saturday during the 35th Anniversary Synod of the Diocese of Kafanchan, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
He emphasised that religious equality and mutual respect are vital for peace and unity in Nigeria.
“No religion should be regarded as inferior to others. To be a Christian is not to be a second-class citizen or a slave; it is to be a child of the living God,” he declared.

The former minister expressed joy over the improved security situation in Southern Kaduna, commending the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, for his administration’s efforts in addressing long-standing religious and communal tensions.
According to him, the governor’s leadership has helped reduce the hostility and mistrust that once characterised interfaith relations in the area.
“I am deeply encouraged by the peace returning to Southern Kaduna. The steps taken by Governor Uba Sani to curb religious strife are commendable and worthy of emulation,” he said.
Fani-Kayode recalled the 2016 Christmas Day attacks in parts of Southern Kaduna, which he described as one of the darkest moments in the region’s history.
He said about 800 people were killed in four local government areas during the violence, calling it a “gruesome massacre” that left deep scars on the Christian community.
“Hospitals were shut, victims were neglected, and the authorities looked away while communities were repeatedly attacked,” he lamented.
The former minister added that despite the pain and loss, those experiences only strengthened the faith of Christians in the region and deepened their resolve to pursue peace through endurance and faith in God.
Fani-Kayode praised the resilience of believers in Southern Kaduna, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith.
“Those dark days strengthened our faith and taught us that the light of Christ shines brightest in times of trial. We must continue to resist oppression peacefully and trust in God’s deliverance,” he said.
The event, which drew church leaders, government representatives, and members of the Anglican Communion, also featured prayers for lasting peace in Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
