Celtic Fc has confirmed that Brendan Rodgers has stepped down from his position as head coach, just a day after the team’s 2-1 defeat to Hearts.

“Celtic Football Club can confirm that football manager Brendan Rodgers has today tendered his resignation. It has been accepted by the Club and Brendan will leave his role with immediate effect The Club appreciates Brendan’s contribution to Celtic during his two very successful periods at the Club. Brendan leaves Celtic with our thanks for the role he has played during a period of continued success for the Club, and we wish him further success in the future.”
Rodgers faced challenges in the transfer market over the summer, particularly after the departure of main striker Adam Idah.
The club was unable to secure a suitable replacement before the transfer window closed, forcing Rodgers to look for options after the market.
He eventually brought in Kelechi Iheanacho as a free agent , a player he knows well from his time at Leicester City.
Iheanacho quickly became an important figure under Rodgers, contributing three goals and one assist in all competitions.

Rodgers’ resignation could impact Iheanacho’s playing time, especially if his form drop, as young forward Johnny Kenny is eager for a chance to impress.
Iheanacho will need to maintain strong performances to earn the trust of the incoming manager and secure a regular place in the starting lineup.
Celtic are now considering their options for a new head coach, with Kieran McKenna and former boss Ange Postecoglou among the leading candidates to replace Rodgers.
