Shocking scenes have emerged from the EAICC Conference Centre, as the roof of the newly commissioned multi-million-naira facility collapsed during the first major rainfall since its grand opening!
Eyewitness videos currently trending online show parts of the massive roof caved in, leaving puddles of water and twisted metal scattered across the hall.
The collapse has sparked outrage across social media, with Nigerians slamming the government and contractors over what many describe as “another national embarrassment.”
The conference centre was unveiled only a few weeks ago amid fanfare, official praise, and ribbon-cutting ceremonies. But the joy didn’t last long.
Critics are now calling for a full-scale investigation, questioning how such a costly project could fail so soon after commissioning. Many are linking the incident to corruption, poor oversight, and substandard construction practices that have plagued government contracts for years.
Thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far but the damage has already done enough to erode public confidence in infrastructure delivery once again.
Social media users didn’t hold back:
They build for cameras, not for people!” one user wrote.
“Rain just exposed the truth,” another commented.
