  • A Nigerian lady has sparked discussions online about the Hallelujah Challenge.
  • She expressed her feelings in a viral TikTok video, stating it has changed from its original form.
  • The lady reminisced about the early days of the midnight worship, emphasizing it was meant for true believers.

A Nigerian lady has stirred conversation online after voicing her opinion that the popular Hallelujah Challenge is no longer what it used to be.

In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, she lamented that she misses the early days of the midnight worship session when it was “solely for true believers.”

Founded by renowned gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey, the Hallelujah Challenge began as a spontaneous praise and prayer movement on Instagram Live. The virtual sessions quickly attracted thousands of Christians joining from different parts of the world to worship together at midnight.

Over the years, however, the program’s audience has expanded massively, reaching millions across various social media platforms.

The woman, who shared her thoughts via the TikTok handle @lifestyle_ng, claimed that the event has lost its original essence. According to her, what was once a deeply spiritual gathering has now become a platform for people seeking online attention.

She captioned her post:

“I miss when Hallelujah Challenge was just for us. No noise, no clout.”

Her comments triggered thousands of reactions. While some users agreed, saying the event has become too commercialized and less sacred, others defended it, arguing that increased popularity only means more people are hearing God’s word.

Supporters of the movement believe that reaching a larger audience online shouldn’t be seen as “clout chasing” but rather as spreading the gospel in a digital age.

As of now, Nathaniel Bassey has not publicly responded to the viral remarks. Regardless, the Hallelujah Challenge continues to dominate social media trends, drawing thousands of participants nightly in collective worship and praise.
