The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who allegedly stole a car belonging to an Air Force officer in Abuja.

The vehicle, a Ford Escape, was reportedly taken at gunpoint during a robbery at the officer’s residence in Karu, Abuja.

According to the police, the robbers invaded the home around 3:15 a.m. on October 29, 2025, and made away with money, mobile phones, and the vehicle.

Intelligence reports later revealed that the suspects were heading toward Kano.

Acting on a tip-off, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the stolen vehicle along the Kano–Zaria Expressway near Salbas Filling Station.

The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, but officers overpowered them after a brief gun battle.

The police identified the two arrested suspects as Adamu Adam Abubakar of Zoo Road, Kano, and Umar Bello of Nasarawa Dirkania, Kaduna State.

Police said a third suspect, known as Dan Malam, escaped with a pistol and some of the stolen items.

“Both suspects were occupants of the recovered vehicle. Unfortunately, one Dan Malam (surname unknown) escaped with a pistol and some of the robbed valuables, and is currently being trailed.”

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the Intelligence Unit of the Force Headquarters in Abuja and his men for their swift coordination.

He urged the public to continue sharing credible information with the police to help combat crime in the state.
