Nigerians on social media have once again reignited the #JusticeForOchanya movement, seven years after the heartbreaking passing of Ochanya Ogbanje, a 13-year-old girl from Benue State who reportedly suffered prolonged abuse.

Ochanya’s story shocked the nation in October 2018 when reports linked her deteriorating health to long-term mistreatment.

She was allegedly abused by a university lecturer, Andrew Ogbuja, and his son, Victor Ogbuja, sparking widespread outrage and demands for justice.

Years later, the case remains unresolved, prompting activists and citizens to renew calls for accountability.

Advocacy groups emphasize that this revived movement is not only about ensuring justice for Ochanya but also about protecting young girls across Nigeria.

Across social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook, Nigerians have expressed frustration over the slow pace of legal proceedings.

Celebrities, influencers, and everyday users are joining the conversation, urging urgent reforms for justice and to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

With #JusticeForOchanya gaining momentum once more, supporters remain hopeful that the case will finally reach a fair conclusion, and that stronger systems will be established to safeguard vulnerable children nationwide.
