Galatasaray have their sight set on another Super Eagles player after making move for Ademola Lookman.
Since signing Victor Osimhen on loan at the start of last season, Galatasaray have been linked with a number of Nigerian players, the latest being Fulham defender Calvin Bassey.
The 28-year-old is one of the top centre-backs in the Premier League, having won Fulham’s Player of the Season last term. Despite his importance to the Cottagers, the ambitious Galatasaray want him.

The details
According to Turkish journalist Arda Ozkurt, relayed by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray on X, the Cim-Bom are looking to bolster their defensive ranks with a left-footed centre-back, and Bassey is an option being evaluated. However, the Nigerian is not the first choice.
The club tried to solve that part of their squad in the summer, targeting AC Milan’s Strahinja Pavlovic; however, they failed to land him, with the Serbia international reportedly averse to moving to Turkey.
The Turkish champions are expected to return for him this winter transfer window, and it remains to be seen whether they will be successful in their pursuit, given Pavlovic’s importance, who has started all nine league games for Rossoneri this season.

Bassey is on their list as a backup option, according to the report, but it is unlikely the Cottagers will willingly part ways with him mid-season, given his importance in the squad. Bassey has a contract until 2027, with Fulham retaining the option to extend until 2028.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray’s interests in Lookman may never materialise, with journalist Ali Naci Kucuk explaining that the economics of the deal make it impossible.
