In a series of decisive and intelligence-driven operations spanning multiple theatres, troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) have within the last 48 hours intensified offensive actions against terrorists and criminal syndicates, rescuing 17 kidnapped victims, arresting 20 suspects, neutralized two terrorists and uncovering illegal oil refining sites across the North East, North West, North Central, and South-South regions of the country.

This was contained in an official operational report made available to the Nigerian Tribune at the weekend at the Army Headquarters

“In the North East, gallant troops of 192 Battalion, operating in concert with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah (JAS) terrorists in a fierce combat at Hudugum Village, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, neutralizing two insurgents in a well-executed offensive.

It”In a related development, three terrorists identified as Fannami Ari (aka Abu Dujana), Hussaini Hassan Modu (aka Abu Yusuf) and another trainee surrendered to troops in Kukawa and Damboa Local Government Area citing disillusionment with terrorist leadership and deteriorating living conditions within their enclaves.”

The report added that in the North West, troops of 1 Brigade thwarted two coordinated kidnap attempts in Zamfara State, rescuing 11 victims in separate engagements along the Magami–Jan Gemi and Kucheri–Bilbis axes.

The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while troops maintain aggressive fighting patrols and clearance operations to deny terrorists freedom of movement and disrupt their logistics corridors.”

It further explained that in the North Central zone, troops of Operations ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) and WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) conducted synchronised clearance raids across Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa and Kaduna States, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects implicated in cultism, kidnapping, cattle rustling and communal clashes.

The report also indicated the troops rescued four kidnapped victims in Plateau and Taraba States and recovered arms, ammunition and other incriminating materials from the apprehended suspects.

It added that in the South-South region, troops of 29 Battalion discovered and dismantled two illegal oil refining camps at Biseni in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as well as disruption of the illicit activities of oil thieves in the Zone

The report further explained that the troops of 34 Artillery Brigade also intercepted 62 sacks of stolen crude oil estimated at over 3,000 litres in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Imo State.

According to it, “These sustained operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s unflinching resolve under the visionary leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, to dismantle terrorist networks, decimate criminal elements, and restore enduring peace and stability across the nation.”

It declared that the Nigerian Army remained resolute and unrelenting in pursuing all adversaries of the state and safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
