A determined diner attempted an enormous 8,000-calorie breakfast challenge but was defeated in less than 20 minutes – despite calling it one of the best brekkies he’d ever tasted.
Kyle Gibson, 27, took on the colossal fry-up at Houghton Health Box in Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland. The eye-watering feast comprises a staggering 10 of everything – 10 sausages, 10 rashers of bacon, 10 eggs, 10 slices of toast, 10 pieces of black pudding, 10 hash browns, plus mushrooms, two tins of tomatoes, and two tins of baked beans.
Those brave enough to polish off the entire spread within 45 minutes eat completely free and pocket £50 in cash. Fail, however, and it costs £35 to attempt, reports Chronicle Live.

Nobody has ever conquered the challenge, which takes staff 40 minutes to prepare.
“I felt confident before starting the challenge, but half way through I realised how difficult it would be,” local lad Kyle, 27, told What’s the Jam.
“There was so much bread and so much food and I was eating it on my own.

“I gave up after about 18 minutes but it was one of the best breakfasts I had.
“Afterwards, I didn’t feel so good.
“The bloating was bad and I won’t want another breakfast for a very long time.

“I used to be one of the most competitive eaters in the country but now I’m not too competitive anymore.
“I just like to give it a go.”
Houghton Health Box is based inside Houghton Boxing Club in Newbottle Street, Houghton-le-Spring. And if smaller portion sizes are more your thing, the venue also offers meal prep help and other food services.
After all, polishing off such a gut-busting breakfast would be seriously difficult for the vast majority of us!
