Nigerians have dug up an old tweet by former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, where he accused Fulani jihadists of killing thousands of Christians in 2018.

The old tweet resurfaced shortly after Fani-Kayode criticised U.S. President Donald Trump for describing Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” and ordering his defence team to prepare for possible military action.

Old Tweet Resurfaces Amid Trump Criticism

In the 2018 post, Fani-Kayode wrote: “The jihadists who killed the RCCG Evangelist for preaching in Abuja were set free. The ones who killed Bridget, the Deeper Life Pastor’s wife in Kano were set free. No Fulani terrorist has been reprimanded or jailed for killing more than 5,300 Christians in 2018 alone.”

Many Nigerians have since circulated the tweet, accusing him of double standards after he condemned Trump’s remarks about Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode Labels Trump a “Tyrant”

In a fresh post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Fani-Kayode described Trump as a “tyrant” and a “sociopathic megalomaniac” for allegedly threatening Nigeria with violence and invasion.

He wrote: “Imagine a deranged & sociopathic megalomaniac & tyrant, a recalcitrant and unrepentant schoolyard and dockside bully and a cheap and shameless godless scumbag like @realDonaldTrump threatening our country with violence, military action and invasion. What a nerve!”

Nigerians React to His Change in Tone

Fani-Kayode revealed that a friend had expressed worry about Trump’s comments, but he insisted Nigerians would not run away if the U.S. attacked. He said citizens would stay, fight, and defend their homeland.

He accused Nigerians of cowardice and complacency in the face of foreign intimidation, adding that strong leadership was needed during such times.

Linking Trump to Netanyahu

The former minister also accused Trump of working closely with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he likened to a “modern-day Hitler.” He further claimed Trump ignored atrocities in Sudan while attempting to brand Nigeria with a genocide label.

Fani-Kayode alleged that the U.S. president’s recent remarks were an attempt to provoke chaos by portraying Nigerians as killers of Christians.
