Nigerian midfielder, Raphael Onyedika made a successful return from injury as Club Brugge defeated FCG Dender EH 2–1 at the weekend.

It was the midfielder’s first appearance since suffering a hamstring injury on September 24.

Onyedika delivered a composed and energetic performance in midfield, completing 25 passes including two into the final third and boasting a 100% success rate on long balls.

Defensively, he contributed one tackle, one interception, and one ball recovery, showing no signs of discomfort after his spell on the sidelines.

The deep lying midfielder was particularly dominant in duels, winning 90% of his ground battles and 100% of his aerial challenges, underlining his physical presence and readiness for competitive action.

His is a major boost for Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle ahead of the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers Playoffs scheduled for November 13.

Meanwhile, Onyedika’s compatriot Benjamin Fredrick, who featured for FCG Dender EH, also impressed.

The 20 year old who is tipped as William Troost-Ekong successor in the Super Eagles delivered a solid defensive display.

Fredrick completed 31 passes (three into the final third), made three tackles, three blocks, six clearances, two interceptions, and four ball recoveries, and was only dribbled past once.

The centre back has continued to enhance his reputation with consistent performances in Belgium’s top flight.

If he maintains this level, Fredrick could return to Brentford next summer ready to compete for a first-team spot under Keith Andrews.
