The Federal Capital Territory Fire Service said it recorded 18 deaths and 338 fire incidents between January and October 2025.

The Controller, Adebayo Zacchaeus said 69 people were rescued, and properties worth N14.4 billion were saved, while N6 billion worth of property was lost during the period.
He disclosed this during the 23rd anniversary of the fire service in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Zacchaeus said the service recorded 59 incidents in January, February 64, March 33, April 51, May 31, June 35, July 24, August 21, and 20 in September. The statistics show no incident in October.
The controller listed overuse and aging of the firefighting trucks as major challenges facing the service, adding that the personnel strength and resources have not grown in proportion to the expansion.
He, therefore appealed that more attention should be given to developing fire stations in key districts such as Wuse, Guzape, Mpape, Jikwoyi, Orozco, Karshi, Karsana, Idu, Karimo, and Lugbe, among others.
According to him, each of the locations is critical to the safety network of the ever growing capital city.
He called on the stakeholders and FCT residents to exercise maximum caution; avoid open fires, refrain from burning refuse, and ensure electrical appliances are properly handled.
