Rivers United have been drawn in group A against RS Berkane, Pyramids FC and Power Dynamos in the CAF Champions League.
The draw held on Monday and Rivers United assistant coach, Yemi Olanrewaju expressed excitement.
Following their victory over Mozambican side, Black Bulls Maputo, Rivers United became the first NPFL club to qualify for the group stage in six years after defeating.
Speaking ahead of the draw, Olanrewaju expressed the team’s joy and confidence, emphasizing that reaching this stage represents a significant achievement.

This marks Rivers United’s first-ever qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage, as their previous appearances in 2017, 2022, and 2023 all ended in one first-round and two second-round eliminations.
However, he also noted that the team is hoping for a favorable draw.

“We are excited, you know, having qualified for the group stage. It’s the first time for an NPFL club in a very long time. So, for us, we are excited. We are looking forward to it, and we have to enjoy it,” he stated.
“Also, we’re praying for an easy group because we know this is the highest level of football in Africa.”
Sixteen clubs have qualified for this season’s CAF Champions League group stage, and the teams are divided into four groups.
