Shettima Departs for Brazil to Represent Tinubu at UN Climate Summit [PHOTOS]

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday departed for Belém, Brazil, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference.

This was confirmed in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communication, Stanley Nkwocha.

The two-day summit, hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in collaboration with international stakeholders, will take place in Belém, the capital of Pará state, in the heart of the Amazon.

According to the statement, Shettima will join global leaders, development partners, and business executives for high-level discussions.

“On the first day of engagements in Belém, Senator Shettima will attend the general plenary of leaders, where he is expected to deliver Nigeria’s climate action address,” the statement said.

Shettima will also take part in the launch of the Tropical Forest Forever Fund, participate in a Climate and Nature roundtable chaired by President Lula, and hold bilateral meetings to advance Nigeria’s involvement in global carbon markets.
