JCI President-Elect, Ibukun Otesile Kidnapped In Ibadan
The Oyo State command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the kidnapping of the President-elect of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite for 2025, Ibukun Otesile.
Naija News learnt that Otesile was abducted on Thursday evening in front of her home located in the General Gas area of Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Confirming the development, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, stated that the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. “She was kidnapped on Thursday night. Investigation is ongoing,” Osifeso said.
Otesile, a mother of two, is the daughter of the founder and General Overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries in Ibadan, Olalekan Babatunde.
The news of her abduction quickly spread across social media platforms on Friday, sparking widespread concern.
Confirming the incident to journalists, Personal Assistant to Apostle Joshua Sola Akinyemiju, the outgoing Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State, Olamide Olanrewaju, shared details of the distress alert. According to Olanrewaju, the association received the news at about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday.
“We all have a WhatsApp group, which her father is also a member of. So the CAN chairman posted it as a distress call, saying that the daughter of Reverend (Dr.) Lekan Babatunde had been kidnapped,” Olanrewaju said.
“Everyone in the group became worried and started saying, ‘Prayer, prayer, prayer.’ Religious leaders and everyone else were praying. I said prayer is good, but we also need to do the right thing.”
In the same WhatsApp group, Olanrewaju tagged Rev. Moses, the Chaplain of the Police Force Headquarters in Oyo State, before circulating the alert.
“I learned she was kidnapped at the gate in front of her house at General Gas. Only God knows what she was doing there, where she went, or who she was with,” Olanrewaju added.
The distress alert shared by CAN reads: “The daughter of our beloved Reverend Dr Lekan Babatunde was kidnapped this night, Thursday, December 4, around 8:00 p.m. Ibukun Otesile, the mother of two, was kidnapped in front of her gate at General Gas, Akobo.”
In response to the abduction, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) called on the Nigerian Army Headquarters and the Nigeria Police Force to deploy all necessary resources to ensure the safe and immediate release of Otesile.

PDP’s soul is gone – Keyamo welcomes Fubara to APC, praises Tinubu’s influence
The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, says President Bola Tinubu has delivered significantly for Rivers State and the South-South region.
Keyamo on Friday spoke during the flag-off of the 7km Ipo Town–Airport Bypass and the commissioning of the Ikwerre Road–Igwuruta–Airport Road Corridor reconstructed by the Rivers State Government.
Flagging off the bypass, the minister thanked President Tinubu for what he described as the President’s numerous contributions to the people of Rivers State, adding that Tinubu has made it possible for all South-South states to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
He noted that Rivers State, traditionally, has never been in opposition.
Keyamo also formally welcomed Governor Siminalayi Fubara into the APC.
He said, “We set a trap to catch a frog, we caught an elephant in the person of Sir Siminalayi Fubara, welcome to the fold of the progressives sir, welcome to the big family, welcome to the largest party in Africa.”
The Minister of Aviation added that Fubara’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, signals the death of the soul of the opposition party.
He said Fubara’s entry into the APC means “the souls of the PDP has left the party.”
Keyamo was at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where he witnessed Governor Fubara receiving his APC membership card from the Tony Okocha-led leadership of the party.
DAILY POST reports that Governor Fubara had earlier announced his intention to join the APC on Tuesday.
He explained that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC is in the interest of the people of Rivers State and also a gesture of appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, whom he credited as the reason he remains the Governor of Rivers State.

He announced that the mode of primary to be used is affirmation, adding that all 1,660 delegates will be duly accredited before gaining access to the venue.

“We must return Osun State to the Progressive fold next year. You must all work together and be united in purpose.”
Okpebholo assured party members that the primary would be free and fair in line with the mandate given to the committee by the National Working Committee (NWC).

Naira slips to N1,455.50/$1 as trading week ends
The Naira closed the week marginally weaker against the US dollar, ending Friday at N1,455.50/$1 at the official foreign exchange market.
According to data on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) website on Friday, this represents a slight depreciation compared to Thursday’s closing rate of N1,455.25/$1.
It also marks a softer finish relative to last week’s close of N1,454/$1.
This means that throughout the week, the naira traded above N1,450/$1. This is a trend not seen in over three weeks.
Nairametrics reports that this was the trend between November 18 and 22 when the naira traded between N1,451 and N1,458/$1 during the trading week.
Comparison with last week
In the previous trading week, the Naira opened at N1,450.01/$1 on Monday, appreciated slightly to N1,447/$1 on Tuesday, then hovered around N1,447.5/$1 on Wednesday. However, it fell to N1,449/$1 on Thursday before ending the week at N1,454/$1.
This week’s movement shows relative stability but highlights persistent pressure on the currency despite improving macroeconomic indicators.
Foreign reserves hit $45.44 billion
A major highlight of the week was the steady rise in Nigeria’s external reserves, which have now crossed the $45 billion mark.
According to Nairametrics checks, the reserves climbed to $45.44 billion, the highest level since July 23, 2019, when the figure stood at $45.04 billion.
Nairametrics also earlier reported that the external reserves climbed to $42.03 billion on September 19, 2025, marking the highest level since late September 2019 and setting a six-year (72-month) peak.
This means the nation has added nearly $5 billion to its reserves within a short period—an impressive turnaround at a time when many developing economies are struggling with declining FX buffers.
CBN licenses 82 new BDCs under new regulatory framework
In another major development, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) confirmed the issuance of final operating licences to 82 Bureau De Change (BDC) operators. This approval, which took effect on November 27, 2025, follows the bank’s updated regulatory and supervisory framework for BDC operations.
The announcement was made via a statement issued by Hakama Sidi Ali, Acting Director of Corporate Communications.
In May 2024, the CBN released the approved guidelines for operations of Bureau De Change (BDCs) across the country while asking BDCs to reapply for licensing online with the new regulatory requirements in the next six months.
According to the new regulatory requirements, Tier-1 BDCs are mandated to have a minimum capital base of N2 billion, while that of Tier-1 was set at N500 million.
Furthermore, the bank set the application fee for a Tier-1 license at N1 million and that of Tier-2 at N250,000. The licensing fees for Tier-1 and Tier-2 BDCs were set at N5 million and N2 million, respectively.
What this means
While the Naira’s performance this week shows minor weakness, the upward trajectory of foreign reserves and regulatory tightening in the FX space could support medium-term stability.
The licensing of new BDCs may help improve liquidity and reduce pressure on parallel market rates, provided operators adhere strictly to the new rules.
Nevertheless, persistent demand pressures, reduced dollar inflows from crude oil, and market speculation continue to weigh on the currency.
CBN’s decision to approve 82 new BDC licences stirred notable concern across Abuja’s foreign exchange ecosystem, with operators and analysts warning that the move, though potentially beneficial in the long term, may heighten instability in a market still recovering from past regulatory shocks.

Be Merciless to Bandits, Air Marshall Aneke Charges Commanders – THISDAYLIVE
Linus Aleke in Abuja
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders under the Joint Task Force, North Central, Operation Whirl Stroke, to deal decisively and mercilessly with bandits destabilising communities within the zone.
He further urged them to intensify air operations in their Areas of Responsibility while sustaining critical support to ongoing military campaigns across the country.
The directive was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
He noted that the CAS issued the charge during his maiden operational visit to Tactical Air Command (TAC) and its co-located units in Makurdi on Friday.
During the visit, Air Marshal Aneke outlined the NAF’s strategic shift toward intelligence-led and technology-enabled operations, anchored on a strengthened safety culture.
He stressed that operational efficiency would increasingly depend on innovation and the optimal use of recently acquired air platforms and combat assets.
He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to air power readiness, welfare-driven warfare, and smarter operational strategies designed to maximise mission impact.
According to the statement, the visit formed part of the CAS’s nationwide tour of frontline units to assess operational conditions, strengthen command presence, and reinforce expectations for improved mission delivery.
“This is not the time to slow down,” he declared.
He added, “To retain the initiative in today’s complex security environment, we must ensure the highest levels of aircraft serviceability, weapons readiness, and personnel proficiency. Nigerians recognise your sacrifices, and they rely on us to remain effective and mission-ready.”
Air Marshal Aneke also underscored the importance of personnel welfare, stressing that operational excellence cannot be separated from the well-being of officers and airmen.
Reiterating his policy of ‘Welfare for Enhanced Warfare’, he assured personnel that Headquarters NAF would continue to prioritise prompt payment of allowances, improved living and working conditions, and robust administrative and medical systems.
He encouraged open communication within the Service, adding: “I want to hear your concerns directly because your welfare affects our fighting power.
“While we cannot resolve every issue at once, we will apply a structured, prioritised approach to tackle the most pressing challenges,” he said.
He further acknowledged the Federal Government’s substantial investment in modern aircraft, armaments, and advanced training programmes.
“The Federal Government has shown immense confidence in us through unprecedented support. It is our responsibility to justify that trust by delivering measurable results grounded in discipline, professionalism, and excellence,” he said.
In his response, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, expressed gratitude for the CAS’s clear guidance and pledged TAC’s total commitment to his vision.
He assured that personnel across TAC remain motivated and prepared to deliver decisive air power whenever and wherever required.
The CAS, in turn, commended their professionalism and dedication. “Your contributions to Operation Whirl Stroke and other operational theatres demonstrate that Tactical Air Command remains indispensable to our mission. Your courage and devotion continue to inspire confidence across the country,” he said.
While acknowledging their invaluable efforts, Air Marshal Aneke cautioned that the prevailing security landscape demands sustained vigilance and heightened readiness.
He reiterated that the NAF under his leadership will continue to pursue an environment that is safe, supportive, and operationally efficient, with welfare, career development, and combat effectiveness at its core.

Keyamo commissions reconstructed Port Harcourt airport road
By Nnasom David
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Thursday commissioned the newly reconstructed Port Harcourt Airport Road and officially flagged off work on the Bypass to the Airport and Toll Gate Project.
A statement signed by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, on Friday, noted that Keyamo was in Rivers State at the invitation of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who hosted the ceremony as part of ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure and strengthen aviation access.
Speaking as Special Guest of Honour, Keyamo praised the Rivers State Government for what he described as a “transformational intervention” that restores dignity to one of the state’s most critical gateways.
He noted that the former condition of the road had long posed difficulties for travellers, airlines and investors arriving through the Port Harcourt International Airport.
According to him, the project aligns with the Federal Government’s agenda to improve aviation infrastructure nationwide.
He reaffirmed Abuja’s readiness to deepen collaboration with Rivers State and other sub-national governments to guarantee safe, modern and accessible airport facilities across the country.
Governor Fubara, while addressing guests, offered a detailed account of what inspired the road upgrade and the new bypass.
He recalled an incident in which host community members blocked the airport access road in protest, halting commercial activities for a full day.
Their grievances, he said, centred on lack of electricity, inadequate welfare and limited employment opportunities despite hosting a major national asset.
The governor explained that the community presented three demands, two of which his administration has already fulfilled.
These include a fully equipped and functional health centre and the restoration of electricity supply to the area.
The third request, employment, he said, is under review and would receive due government attention.
He added that the new bypass and toll gate project, which is designed to enhance airport access and prevent future disruptions, has been given a firm completion timeline of seven months.

Driver runs over Lagos man over parking space dispute
Lagos residents were left in shock on Monday evening following the death of 36-year-old realtor Yinka Agboola, who was allegedly run over by a yet-to-be-identified driver during a dispute over a parking space at Royal Pine Estate, Orchid Road, Lekki.
An X user, @Ifeoluwaar, who first raised the alarm, described how the incident escalated after the driver’s vehicle was found obstructing the road. Residents reportedly offered him an alternative parking spot, but he allegedly became aggressive, issuing threats.
“The situation began when the individual involved was politely asked to move his vehicle from the middle of the road to allow free movement. Despite being offered an alternative place to park, he responded to a resident with, ‘Do you know who I am? I will kill you right now.’ When challenged, he became aggressive and engaged in a tussle. The victim, Olayinka Agboola, attempted to intervene,” the post read.
According to @Ifeoluwaar, the suspect entered his vehicle and, rather than leaving, drove forward and reversed in a threatening manner. Agboola reportedly clung to the steering wheel in an attempt to restrain him before being thrown violently onto the pavement and into a gutter, leaving him unconscious.
Footage captured by a closed-circuit television camera showed a white Mercedes-Benz reversing dangerously as it approached a group of people. Another clip recorded the moment Agboola was knocked down as the vehicle sped off.
Residents reportedly tried to revive Agboola and rushed him to an undisclosed hospital, where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit. Efforts by residents to raise funds for his treatment included sharing his sister’s bank account details online. On Wednesday, it was announced that Agboola had succumbed to his injuries in the early hours.
“Oh my God, we lost him. He died in the early hours of today,” @Omolomo posted.
Agboola’s sister, Oluwadamilola Agboola, on Thursday disclosed that she had visited the Ajah Police Station to provide her statement, although the suspect’s whereabouts remained unknown.
The incident underscores the risks posed by routine neighbourhood disputes over parking spaces. A similar case occurred in April 2023, when Tolulope Olowu was arrested for allegedly stabbing his neighbour to death in a disagreement over a parking space in First Unity Estate, Badore, Ajah.

Social media personality VeryDarkMan has dismissed a photo circulating widely on Facebook and other social media platforms purportedly showing him meeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting the image is fake and generated with artificial intelligence.
In a statement on Friday, the activist said he has never met the President and has no intention of doing so, accusing unnamed individuals of attempting to damage his reputation and misrepresent his non-partisan stance.
This picture going viral on Facebook and other social media platforms is AI-generated. I have never met the President in my life and I don’t plan on meeting him any day or time,” he said.
There is a plan to destroy me and my stand of not being partisan. I am not supporting anybody in politics.”
VeryDarkMan further condemned the continuous creation of fake images linking him with political figures, insisting that such actions are aimed at pushing a false narrative about him.
He added that the President would not be excited to see him in real life, making the smiling and affectionate poses depicted in the fake photo unrealistic.
Stop creating these fake images of me and these people with questionable characters. It is obvious that the President will not see me and smile or even hug me it will all be fake love,” he stated.
