A man has shared his delight after stumbling across an incredible find at a charity shop , and people have congratulated him on his luck while sharing their advice

As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. This was proven true when a man stumbled across a £8 suit in a charity shop, and on closer inspection realised he was onto a winner.

He explained how he ventured into a Goodwill store on a whim and was surprised to see a grey suit hanging up alongside other garments. Interested by it, he tried it on and was pleased to see it was a near perfect fit. It was at this moment that he checked the labels inside and realised it was a Christian Dior suit, which sell for around £1,000 to £3,000 new on their website.

He said on Reddit: “Maybe my greatest find of all time – 100% pure virgin wool Christian Dior suit.

“One of the employees took it to the back to tell the manager someone shouldn’t have put this out, then gave it back to me to buy.

“Thankfully, my mum is a seamstress so I am getting it altered. The photo of me wearing the suit is after we got it pinned.

“Also, I didn’t shower today so I’m not showing everyone my scruffy face and hat hair. $9.99 (8) with a 10% discount.”

Commenting on his post, one user said: “Great find! As a tailor my advice is: Get a good tailor, the trousers are too long and the sleeves too long. (Wear one of your long sleeves shirts when you go for the fitting).

“It’s your personal preference on the width of the trousers but they’re too wide for my taste. Same with the body, you could have more taken in if you wanted to from the back side seams. And then get it dry cleaned by an extremely good dry cleaner.”

Another user added: “Interesting bit of fashion history here. Dior, along with most of the other legacy French fashion houses, licensed its name for menswear rather than producing in-house from the 70s to the 90s, when many (led by YSL), started to pay more attention to the men’s market.

“Hart Schaffner Marx made mid-quality department store tailoring during this period, and seems to have licensed the Dior name.

“Anyway, this is probably a decent suit, maybe fused or half canvas, but it’s not of the same quality as vintage women’s Dior of the period.”

A third person exclaimed: “Awesome, find, my dude. This suit looks amazing on you!! From what I see in the picture, it fits you like a glove!”

While one more user added: “Years ago I was doing a high school theatre production & needed suits on several of my boys. We hit the Junior League thrift. Got everyone outfitted for $20 each, including shoes.

“After the play one mom begged me to let her buy the suit and shoes because it fit her son so perfectly and was a much better quality one than they had in the budget for his graduation.

“She paid me what they would have spent at KGMenswear ($300). It was a Armani suit so $300 was a steal. And yes he did wear it for graduation.”

The Qatari owner of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has further underlined the voracious appetite of Gulf investors for European football clubs by agreeing a deal to buy a team in Belgium’s Challenger Pro League.

Sky News understands that Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) has signed a memorandum of understanding to take full control of KAS Eupen, which is currently seventh in the league table.

The deal is expected to be publicly announced later on Tuesday.

Sources close to the takeover said it marked a further step towards QSI’s goal of building a multi-club ownership model which has become increasingly common across the global football industry in recent years.

QSI is expected to move swiftly to strengthen Eupen’s sporting model and expand its commercial operations as well as sharpening the club’s focus on youth development and upgrading infrastructure.

One insider said the move would align with QSI’s long-term strategy of “developing sports assets and building connected high-performance ecosystems across its portfolio”.

The Qataris are expected to take over Eupen’s sporting operations immediately, they added.

As the owner of PSG, QSI is already one of the most powerful investors in the sport, with Gulf rivals Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia the owners of Manchester City and Newcastle United respectively.

QSI also owns a significant minority interest in Sporting Club de Braga in Portugal, as well as interests outside football such as Art Basel and Premier Padel.

Until the deal with QSI, KAS Eupen was owned by Aspire, another Qatari entity unrelated to the new owner.

In a statement issued to Sky News, Nasser al Khelaïfi, chairman of Qatar Sports Investments, said: “Qatar Sports Investments is proud to become the custodian of KAS Eupen and contribute to the development of football in Belgium.

Two men have been charged with robbery and administering a noxious substance after more than 20 people were affected by what is thought to be pepper spray at Heathrow airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are due to appear at Uxbridge magistrates court on Tuesday.

HM courts and tribunal service staff confirmed that they were each charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance.

Ambulance crews treated 21 people, including a three-year-old child, who had been hit with the noxious spray in a multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday.

Five people were taken to hospital, all of whom have since been discharged.

Before the spray was used, two women were robbed of their suitcases after they got out of the car park lift, police said.

The men who robbed them sprayed what is believed to be pepper spray, which then affected others nearby.

Nasa’s Jonny Kim, accompanied by Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexey Zubritsky, have returned to Earth from the International Space Station (ISS).

They landed near the city of Dzhezkazgan in Kazakhstan.

The crew completed a 245-day mission aboard the ISS, orbiting Earth 3,920 times and travelling nearly 104 million miles, according to Nasa.

This mission marks the first spaceflight for Kim and Zubritsky, while Ryzhikov concludes his third journey to space.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Tuesday the new US National Security Strategy unveiled last week contained parts that were  “unacceptable to us from a European perspective.”

Merz also said Europe needs to become less dependent on the United States, responding directly to Washington’s strategic shift.

What did Merz say about the US strategy shift?

While Merz rejected components of the US strategy, he also has described it as unsurprising in substance, with the document roughly reflecting what US Vice President JD Vance already said in February at the Munich Security Conference.

“Some of it is plausible, some of it is understandable, and some of it is unacceptable for us from a European point of view,” Merz said of the US strategy. “I see no need for the Americans to now try to save democracy in Europe. If it needed saving, we would be able to handle that on our own,” he added.

Vance had accused Germany and other European allies of restricting freedom of expression and excluding parties such as the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD). The strategy, unveiled last week, accused European governments of undermining political liberty and restricting free speech. Merz argued that such assessments fail to reflect the continent’s political realities.

Speaking during a visit to Rhineland-Palatinate, Merz said Washington’s shift had confirmed his view “that we in Europe, and therefore also in Germany, must become much more independent of the United States in security policy.”

A 20-year-old man who made finger guns outside of an elementary school as part of a TikTok challenge could be facing up to ten years in prison.

Joel Edwards, from St Clair Shores, Michigan, was already on probation for a separate crime when he was arrested.

FBI agents reported his social media accounts to state police on September 13, after videos linked to his account allegedly expressed a desire to carry out a mass shooting.

SCS Police carried out a welfare check of his home, where they allegedly discovered weapons, according to a public statement from Peter Lucido, the Macomb County Prosecutor.

However, Edward’s mother, Rebekah, has branded the situation as a misunderstanding.

“I think that he was trying to be an actor and he was mimicking characters that were not good role models for him, like Patrick Bateman and Walter White,” she told WXYZ. “He goes through these episodes where he wants to be like these actors.”

“It’s just been really hard to deal with all of this because he needs help and he’s not getting the help he needs from the place he’s at,” she added.

According to Fox 2, investigators allegedly said that Edwards had recorded the video outside of Masonic Heights Elementary School.

Local residents told WXYZ that the incident has left them frightened for their own safety and that of their children.

“So it being right here in our backyard, it put a sense of fear in me that I’ve never had in the community before,” Jessica Frye said.

“He lives way too close to the school,” she continued. “So if he does get out and he lives there, he’s so close to it. He’s close to our house.”

Edwards is being held on a $5 million bond.

He has been charged with using a computer to commit a crime; intentional threat to commit an act of violence against a school with specific intent to carry out or overt act toward; and felony firearm charges, according to the prosecutor’s statement.

Collectively, he could be facing ten years behind bars if he is found guilty.

If he successfully posts bail, he will be required to wear a GPS tether and will be subjected to home confinement. He will also be banned from having any contact with a school student or from contacting any school official.

In his statement, Lucido confirmed that there was no ongoing threat to the public but branded the case as “deeply disturbing.”

Edwards is scheduled for a probable cause conference on December 16 and a preliminary exam on December 19, before proceedings go further.

A man in Australia accused of killing his former American beauty queen girlfriend has returned to court over seven years after her disappearance.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, Mark Sheridan Waden, 50 — who is facing charges of murder and interfering with a corpse after Priscilla Brooten, 46, vanished in July 2018 — appeared at the Supreme Court in Brisbane for a pre-trial hearing, according to NewsWire copy, per news.com.au, the Daily Telegraph and The Courier-Mail.

Brooten, from the Brisbane suburb of Bracken Ridge, hasn’t been seen or heard from since her disappearance over seven years ago. Despite her vanishing in July 2018, she wasn’t reported missing until December of that year, per the outlets. Her body has never been found.

Queensland Police Service previously confirmed a man had been charged with murder and misconduct with a corpse by interfering in June 2019, per a news release.

Waden was Brooten’s partner at the time and she was last seen at their Bracken Ridge home, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) previously reported.

It was revealed in June 2019 that the former couple’s home had been excavated, with cadaver dogs leading police to a small area in the front yard for the dig, the ABC reported at the time.

Local Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Hogan previously said during a press conference that Brooten had a daughter and mother living in California, and had been described as a friendly, outgoing person, per the outlet.

She also enjoyed yoga and Zumba, as well as being heavily involved in online gaming.

The missing woman’s blue Volkswagen Golf hatchback was previously found abandoned in the Australian suburb of Scarborough on July 6, the year she disappeared, per the ABC.

Despite a body not being found, a magistrate previously ruled that there was enough circumstantial evidence for Waden to stand trial, the NewsWire copy stated. He is yet to enter a plea and remains on bail. The case is scheduled for a review on Feb. 5, 2026.

A Queensland Supreme Court spokesperson did not immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information. Queensland Police Service was unable to provide further comments due to the matter being before the court.

All there is to know as Which? says there are certain rows of seats that offer a small perk that most airline passengers pay a premium for.

• Extra legroom: On EasyJet and Ryanair planes, there are certain rows of seats that provide a little bit more legroom for free, as long as you know which ones to book. While certain seats already come with extra legroom, they come at a premium cost.
• What do you get for the price? Ryanair can charge up to £38 for extra space during the flight. Easyjet offers roomier seats from as little as £12.99 – but this varies depending on the route selected, flight and time of booking. On both airlines, the websites claim that extra legroom seats are typically found in the first row and by the emergency exits. It means passengers must be willing and able to perform certain safety requirements in the event of an emergency.
• Seats at random: For both the popular budget ways to travel, not selecting a seat when booking leaves your chances in the hands of the airline. A computer program will randomly assign you a spot on the plane that is unreserved. This is always free, and there’s a chance it could pick one with an added perk.

• Which? trick to save money: The consumer rights watchdog posted a tip on its Instagram feed for those booking Christmas travel or always planning their holiday in 2026. It claimed that certain seats could be free and offer a little bit of extra legroom compared to others.
• Make the right choice: In the video, a Which? spokesperson said people need to “just sit on the right”. The tip comes down to the make and model of the aeroplane.
• Ryanair choice: The Which? The guide claimed most Ryanair planes are Boeing 737, meaning people who select a seat in sections D, E or F (on the right-hand side of the plane) in rows three to 15 would technically have an extra inch of legroom compared to those in the A, B and C blocks.

• Easyjet’s similar set-up: Which? also found the same rule applied on Easyjet flights, as most would be inside an Airbus A321neo. Passengers willing to pay a small fee to select their seats should pick that same block of seats, in any row from three to 13.
• Always worth checking: Which? claims that “all planes are different, so it’s always worth checking” before you make a booking. There are free online tools to help figure out if this advice can be applied to your next flight.
• How do I find out my plane model? To figure out if your plane model matches the advice above, go into Google Flights and enter your flight details (destination and dates). Airlines will have already assigned a certain model of aircraft to the route and this should be visible as part of the flight information.

Malaysia Airlines has been ordered by a Beijing court to pay more than £300,000 to the families of eight passengers on missing flight MH370.

The compensation – 2.9m yuan (£307,571) for each family – is for the death of loved ones, funeral expenses and damages for emotional distress, the court said.

Passengers on board have never been found, but they have been declared legally dead.

MH370 mysteriously vanished on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in 2014, leading to a series of unsuccessful searches.

Most of the passengers were Chinese, with families in China continuing to seek answers.

The court added that a further 23 cases remain pending, with agreements reached in 47 other cases and lawsuits withdrawn.

Last week, the Malaysian government said a search for the plane would resume on 30 December.

‘Good night, Malaysian three seven zero’

Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah signed off the plane’s last transmission with “good night, Malaysian three seven zero” around 40 minutes into take off, as it flew into Vietnamese airspace.

But the plane’s transponder ceased to operate shortly after as air traffic controllers lost contact.

Radar showed it took a left turn across the Peninsular Malaysia, with investigators then believing it crashed into the Indian Ocean west of Australia.

Small pieces of debris from the jet, which was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew when it vanished, have since washed up.

In 2020, former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott claimed that from “very, very early on” the “very top levels” of the Malaysian government believed Mr Shah crashed the plane on purpose.

But investigators are unable to determine what happened without finding the plane.
