Nigerian lady cries out as she alleges that her brother, who’s a Nigerian soldier, was reportedly sentenced to death by hanging for demanding better ammunition.

The heartbroken lady took to social media to recount a long tale of sorrow about how brother had passed away.

In her narration, she revealed that her brother had been a soldier fighting in Sambisa years ago, when he revealed to his mother in 2014-15 that he and his team were arrested and sentenced to death by hanging.

Brother gets released

However two years later, her brother was released after spending time in an underground cell. The brother later revealed to her that his close friend, Temple, who was part of their team and was also sentenced died in a bomb blast.

She noted that occasionally she would catch her brother crying and when she asks what was wrong, he would say that he remembered something that happened in Sambisa.

She noted that after his release, they kept transfering him from state to state, and later sending him back to Maiduguri.

However, after a year, they reportedly dismissed him.

Brother gets involved in fatal accident

The lady revealed that in 2022, the police called them and informed them that her brother was involved in an accident.

When they got there, they found their brother already embalmed, and she added that the only wound her brother had was one broken leg and there were no other marks on his body.

The heartbroken lady remarked that no other person or casualty was in the mortuary where her brother was.

Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Industries Limited, has unveiled a landmark plan to list a 10% stake in his $20 billion refinery on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) in 2026.

Dangote further announced that the company is currently in discussions with market regulators to facilitate future dividend payouts in US dollars, offering a hedge against the persistent challenges posed by currency volatility.

“The most honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy will approve this,” Dangote said, referencing the regulatory steps needed for the initiative.

This announcement was made during the unveiling of the Dangote Vision 2030, a long-term strategic roadmap, at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on Thursday.

During his speech, Dangote highlighted that his team is collaborating closely with both the NGX and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to finalize the structure for the proposed initial public offering (IPO).

“You buy in naira, but you get dividends in dollars,” Dangote added.

The Dangote Group’s Vision 2030 event followed the launch of the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s N100 billion Annual Education Scholarship Programme Initiative.

During this event, the foundation unveiled a major new initiative aimed at supporting education and scholarships, reinforcing its commitment to advancing educational opportunities across Nigeria and beyond.

This new initiative will provide scholarships to deserving students, further solidifying the foundation’s role in promoting human capital development and empowering the next generation.

Dividend initiative backed by export revenues 

Elaborating further on dividend payment in dollars, Dangote stated that they are making arrangement to ensure that Dangote Cement, Dangote Refinery and Dangote Fertilizer shareholders receive dividends in dollars.

Dangote explained that the dollar-denominated dividends will be underpinned by a projected $6.4 billion in export earnings, largely from petrochemicals including polypropylene and fertiliser. These export flows, he noted, will provide the consistent hard currency supply needed to sustain the payout framework.

NGX listing and expansion 

The planned offering represents Dangote’s first major move to open the refinery’s ownership to the public.

While he has not ruled out secondary listings in other jurisdictions, Dangote emphasised that the NGX remains the immediate focus.

“We want the Dangote Refinery to be the golden stock of the Exchange,” he said.

The initiative comes as part of a broader expansion roadmap that projects group revenues rising to $100 billion by 2030, up from the current $18 billion.

Dangote also targets a market capitalisation exceeding $200 billion by 2030, positioning the conglomerate among the world’s 100 largest companies.

Refinery output and capacity expansion 

The 650,000-barrel-per-day facility—already producing diesel, aviation fuel and, since September, petrol—is central to Nigeria’s drive for energy independence.

Dangote disclosed plans to expand capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day within three years, more than doubling current output.

With soaring revenues and a proposed dollar-dividend structure, analysts say the listing could become one of the most significant market events in Nigeria’s history, potentially reshaping investor expectations and setting a new benchmark for corporate payouts.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, before Justice Mariam Hassan of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gwarinpa over alleged involvement in a ₦2.2 billion corruption case.

He is facing an eight-count charge.
The former Anambra State governor arrived at the courthouse around 8:10 am, accompanied by EFCC operatives.

The charges, filed on December 9 and dated October 31, are contained in suit number FCT/HC/CR/726/2025. Ngige is listed as the only defendant. The prosecution team is led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sylvanus Tahir.

According to the EFCC, the alleged offences took place during Ngige’s tenure as Minister of Labour under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The first count accuses him of using his office, between September 2015 and May 2023, as the supervising Minister of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) to grant improper benefits to Cezimo Nigeria Limited — a company linked to Ezebinwa Amarachukwu Charles, described as his associate. The commission claims he awarded seven NSITF contracts for consultancy, training, and supply to the company, amounting to ₦366,470,920.68.

The second count alleges a similar act, accusing Ngige of favouring Zitacom Nigeria Limited, another company said to be connected to Ezebinwa Amarachukwu Charles, while he was overseeing the NSITF.

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Friday, ordered the remand of the former Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Nigige, in the Kuje Correctional Center.

Nigige who was arraigned on alleged corruption charges would remain in Kuje Correctional Center till Monday, when his bail application would be heard.

Ngige was specifically charged with conferring unfair advantage on his associates, in the award of several contracts when he held office as minister, between 2015 and 2023.

He was also accused of corruptly accepting gifts of several millions of naira through his organizations, while he was in office.

He however pleaded not guilty to all the eighth-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

However, his bail application could not be taking as it was served on the prosecution shortly before the court’s proceedings.

His lead lawyer, Mr Patrick Ikweato, SAN, pleaded with the court to admit the former minister on health grounds, pending the hearing of the bail.

But, the request was opposed by EFCC’s lawyer, Mr Sylvanus Tahir, SAN, on claim that the former minister was a flight risk, adding that he would respond formally to the bail application.

In a short ruling, Justice Mariam Hassan adjourned till Monday December 15, for hearing in the bail application.

In the charge marked: FCT/HC/CR/726/2025, the former minister in count one was alleged to have used his position as Minister of Labour and Employment and the Supervising Minister of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), “to confer an unfair advantage upon Cezimo Nigeria Limited, a company whose MD/CEO and alter ego, Ezebinwa Amarachukwu Charles is your associate, by the award of Seven different contracts for consultancy, training and supply by the NSITF to the said company to the tune of N366,470,920.68.

In count two, the former minister was alleged to have used his position to confer an unfair advantage “upon Zitacom Nigeria Limited, a company whose MD/CEO and alter ego, Ezebinwa Amarachukwu Charles is your associate, by the award of eight different contracts for supply, training and consultancy, with the NSITF, to the said company to the tune of N583,682,686.00.

Ngige was also alleged to have used his position to confer an unfair advantage upon Jeff & Xris Limited, a company whose MD/CEO and alter ego, Nwosu Jideofor Chukwunwike, said to be his associate by the award of eight different contracts to the said company to the tune of N362,043,163.16.

In another count, the former minister was alleged to have “between September 2015 to May 2023 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this court and being the supervising Minister of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), used your said position to confer an unfair advantage upon Olde English Consolidated Limited, a company whose MD/CEO and alter ego, Uzoma Igbonwa is your associate, by the award of four different contracts for consultancy, training and construction by the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) to the said company to the tune of N668,138,141.00.

In count six, the anti-graft agency alleged that Ngige had sometime between May 2022 and June 2022 in Abuja, “did corruptly accept a gift, to wit: the sum of N38,650,000 only through your organization called Senator (Dr) Chris Nwabueze Ngige Campaign Organization from Cezimo Nigeria Limited (Zenith Bank Account Number 1011901119), a contractor with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), while performing your official act as Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment and you thereby committed an offence contrary to section 17(a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 179(c) of the same Act”.

He was also in another count accused of “corruptly” accepting a gift of N55,003,000 only, through his organization called Senator (Dr) Chris Ngige Scholarship Scheme from Zitacom Nigeria Limited (Zenith Bank Account Number 1017263219), a contractor with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF)”, while performing his official act as minister.

…Government dismisses allegations as baseless

Tension is brewing in Ijesa-Isu Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, over an alleged plot to impose the monarch of the community against the wishes of the town.

Residents of the community alleged that the traditional procedures for choosing a new monarch were being influenced by the government in cahoots with some politicians in the town, a development they said threatens the peace, unity, and cultural integrity of the town.
The community members accused Governor Biodun Oyebanji, a former deputy governor, and some notable politicians from the town of “attempting to influence the succession process for political advantage.”
Speaking on behalf of the community, Elder Omoyele Ajobiewe claimed the perceived political interference has heightened tensions and created fear among residents.
According to him, some chiefs and kingmakers have allegedly come under pressure to endorse a particular candidate believed to have the backing of some political figures.
“The very perception of interference alone is causing division, fear, and anxiety in our community. The revered Obanla stool has always been filled strictly through established customs and lineage rules without political influence. Any deviation threatens our unity and our heritage.”
He warned that imposing a candidate could set a dangerous precedent for traditional institutions across Ekiti, undermine public confidence in both government and traditional systems, and lead to long-term communal crises.
The community elder argued that the kingship institution, being sacred and apolitical, must remain completely insulated from the fabric of partisan politics in order to prevent instability and preserve cultural values.
Calling for urgent intervention, Elder Ajobiewe appealed to well-meaning Nigerians, traditional councils, civil society organisations, and custodians of justice to ensure that the kingmakers are allowed to perform their duties freely and without fear.
He also urged the government at all levels to investigate the concerns raised, as well as reaffirm that due traditional process remains the sole legitimate means of selecting a new Obanla.
“We make this appeal not out of hostility, but out of genuine fear that our peace may be disrupted. The Obanla stool is not a mere title; it represents our history, identity, and unity.
“We appeal for protection of our heritage so that peace and dignity can continue to reign in Ijesa-Isu Ekiti.”
In his reaction on behalf of the government, the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, dismissed the allegations of political interference as baseless and completely at variance with Governor Oyebanji’s respect for traditional institutions.
Olatunbosun said that the administration remains committed to non-interference in chieftaincy matters, insisting that the governor has no preferred candidate and would not, under any circumstance, impose anyone on the community.

The President of the Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG), Arc. Kabir Ibrahim has said the country is on the verge of becoming Africa’s food basket if it fully commits to re-engineering its food system in line with the Kampala Declaration (2026–2035).

In a statement calling for urgent reforms in the agricultural sector, Ibrahim said Nigeria has all the comparative advantages needed to dominate Africa’s agribusiness landscape, especially under the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

He said Nigeria’s youthful population, coupled with rapid innovation in agritech, fintech, ICT, and artificial intelligence, places the country in a strategic position to become the hub of Africa’s agrifood system. According to him, with the right policies, Nigerian youths can drive the continent’s next agricultural transformation.

“The huge population of youngsters taking the enormous opportunities in Agribusiness will dominate the Agribusiness ecosystem in Africa. Nigeria at 65 is poised to become the most important economy in Africa due to the high potential of Agribusiness in AfCFTA”I brahim said.

He stressed that liberalising the agribusiness environment, especially around access to quality inputs, would significantly boost productivity and make agriculture more attractive.

These inputs, he said, include crop- and soil-specific fertilisers, improved seeds, insecticides, herbicides, and modern farm machinery. Reducing post-harvest losses and ensuring a seamless supply chain would further strengthen the agrifood system.

According to Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN), fixing access to credit and adopting a Small Business Administration (SBA)-styled model will enable Nigeria to grow its agribusiness enterprises sustainably and avoid market saturation.

These steps, he argued, are crucial to unlocking job creation, stimulating wealth, and expanding economic growth.

Ibrahim urged the Nigerian government to domesticate and faithfully implement the Kampala Declaration, a multi-year continental framework adopted by African Heads of State in January 2025 to transform Africa’s agrifood systems.

The declaration sets ambitious goals, including tripling intra-African agrifood trade, increasing agrifood output by 45 percent, mobilising $100 billion in public and private investment and strengthening resilience and sustainability across the value chain.

He said Nigeria’s abundant cultivable and irrigable land, livestock potential, and non-oil investment opportunities give it an advantage over countries like the Netherlands, which despite limited land, has become a global agribusiness powerhouse.

“With clearly laid out action plans, the Kampala Declaration will make Africa’s Agri-food system resilient and sustainable. Nigeria can cut a niche leveraging its large youthful population, abundant land, oil and mineral resources, and broad non-oil investment windows”, Ibrahim noted.

Ibrahim called on citizens and leaders to work transparently and diligently to transform Nigeria’s agricultural fortunes.

He emphasised that achieving food sufficiency and national prosperity requires a collective effort and the political will to implement reforms that will unlock the country’s agricultural potential.

“I challenge everyone to work assiduously and transparently to make Nigeria prosperous by taking advantage of our immense endowments,” he said.

A former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Moshood Adeoti, has denied reports suggesting that he has rejoined the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by his media office on Friday in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the statement made available to New Telegraph electronically, Adeoti’s report remains in the imaginations of the writer or his sponsors.

While debunking the contents of the report, Alhaji Adeoti stressed that he was equally surprised by the news contents, as he has no plan at the moment to rejoin the APC.

“Just like every one of my supporters, I was equally surprised to see the report of my rejoining the APC, as there was no time I informed anyone of my decision to rejoin the APC.

“Since the news went viral, I have been bombarded with calls from all my supporters in the country and those in the diaspora.”

He therefore advised journalists to fact-check all their information before going public with it.

Alhaji Adeoti, however, called on his numerous supporters to disregard such news and remain calm, as nothing has changed since his last meeting with them.
