- Chike Live in Concert (December 18, Landmark Event Centre) Ticket price; from ₦ 50,000
Chike kicks off the list of the Detty December events with a soulful live-band concert at Landmark event centre, continuing his tradition of emotionally rich performances that have grown from intimate shows into full-scale year-end spectacles, with fans set to sing along to hits like Running (To You), Egwu ft Mohbad, Find You, and If You No Love, amongst other songs to treat them to a spectacular night.
2. Juma Jux Live (December 18, Ilubirin) – Ticket price: from ₦ 30,000
Tanzanian star Juma Jux makes his Detty December Lagos debut at Ilubirin, bringing East African flair and polished stagecraft to the city of Lagos as he’s set to deliver fan favourites such as God Design, Enjoy, Bado and Nisiulizwe in what marks his first major festive headline appearance in Nigeria. After the marriage of he and Priscillia, he has been a household name amongst Nigerians and music lovers as he’s set to headline the show.
- BNXN Live in Concert (December 19, Landmark Event Centre) – Ticket price; from ₦ 50,000
BNXN is set to headline Landmark with a smooth Afrobeats showcase that continues his impressive run of sold-out Lagos concerts in recent years. Known for his strong live performances and deep connection with fans, the show promises a hit-filled night featuring fan favourites such as Outside, I Alone, Totori, and Kilometer, as part of the ICONIQ Fest series.
The concert comes on the back of his 2025 album Captain, with the show also carrying the same title. This gives fans the opportunity to experience songs from the project live, alongside his biggest classics, in a setting that highlights his growth and musical journey.
- Plutomania Live in Concert (December 20, Landmark Event Centre) – Ticket price; from ₦ 50,000
This will be the first-ever Plutomania live concert, featuring the three music brothers: Shalliopi (Pluto Presido) and his brothers, Zerry DL and Uzama. It promises to be a special event, as it’s rare to see siblings headline a concert together. Fans can look forward to an exciting show with hits from each brother, including Laho by Shalliopi, Back to Back by Zerry DL, Na Scra by Famous Pluto, and a collaborative track, Ewo, performed by all three.
The concert is part of Detty December, Lagos’ biggest festive music season, This event would also showcase the brothers’ chemistry and love for performing together.
- Rhythm Unplugged (December 21, Eko Convention Centre) –Ticket price: from ₦250,000
Rhythm Unplugged 2025 is set to be one of the biggest events of Detty December, taking over the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday, December 21. The concert also marks the official kickoff of the annual Flytime Fest and continues its legacy as West Africa’s longest-running music show.
This year, Afrobeats superstar Rema will headline, performing hits like Calm Down, Dumebi, Baby, Kelebu, and Fun to kick off a high-energy night. UK rap star Central Cee will also make an apperance at the event, bringing global hits like Doja, Sprinter, Wave (with Asake), and Let Go. The 2025 lineup mixes Afrobeats, UK rap, and street pop, featuring artists such as OdumoduBlvck, Shallipopi, BNXN, Mavo, Moliy, and Famous Pluto.
- Bonfire Experience with Victony (December 21, Glitz Event Centre) – Ticket price: from ₦ 20,000
Victony’s Bonfire Experience concert, part of Lagos’ Detty December series, is set for December 21, 2025, at Glitz Event Centre. The event is known for its intimate and high-energy atmosphere, giving fans a close-up experience with lots of crowd interaction and emotional performances.
The concert’s setlist usually includes Victony’s biggest hits like Soweto, Holy Father, and Love Me, along with new songs from his Very Stubborn project. Fans can also expect special live versions of their favorite tracks, making it a unique and memorable night.

Flavour N’abania will headline the opening night of Flytime Fest 2025 at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Monday, December 22, 2025. This is part of the four-day Flytime Fest series running until December 25. Asake is set to turn Christmas Eve into one of Detty December’s biggest moments with a headline concert that follows his explosive past Lagos shows. He will take the stage on 24 December 2025 at the Eko Convention Centre for his first Lagos concert in two years, making it the highlight of Detty December and a must-attend event for fans. Attendees can expect a high-energy performance featuring a mix of his biggest hits from albums like Joha, Organize, Omo Ope, Lonely at the Top, and MMS, along with his new 2025 releases such as Why Love, Badman Gangsta, and more. This show represents a true welcome-home celebration and a rare opportunity to experience Asake live in Lagos after a two-year hiatus. 9. Davido “5ive” Nigerian Tour (December 25, Eko Convention Centre) – Ticket price: from ₦250,000
Davido is set to headline and mark the grandstand edition to close out his long-awaited “5IVE” Nigeria tour. Having performed across the country from Akwa Ibom (October 26) to Adamawa (October 29), Enugu (November 1), Ibadan (November 9), Abuja (December 14) and every corner in between Lagos remains the final and most anticipated stop. 10.Adekunle Gold – Orchestra (December 26, National Theatre) – Ticket price: from ₦ 40,000
Adekunle Gold ushers in post-Christmas festivities with an orchestral live-band experience at the National Theatre. Adekunle Gold will perform a homecoming concert with a 55-piece MUSON Orchestra and his band, The 79th Element, at the National Theatre in Lagos on December 26, 2025. This event will mark the first time an artiste will perform with a full orchestra at the newly renovated National Theatre, which has a 3,500-person capacity.
He is expected to perform key tracks such as Many People, Obimo, Coco Money, Bobo, and Only God Can Save Me from his 2025 album titled Fuji. Highlife duo The Cavemen return with a live band showcase at Fidelity Ground. The Cavemen Live in Lagos (The Homecoming) is a headline concert scheduled for Saturday, December 27, 2025, at The Fidelity Ground, Oniru. Known for their high-energy performances and modern highlife sound, the duo returns to Lagos for their signature year-end show, expanding on previous Detty December outings celebrated for rich instrumentation and soulful delivery through songs like Bolo Bolo, Ọmọ Na Wa, and Fvck You.
14. Fireboy DML Live (December 28, Eko Hotel & Suites) – Ticket price: from ₦ 35,000
Fireboy is set to headline his event this upcoming December 28, 2025, show at Eko Hotel is not the first time Fireboy DML has headlined an event in Lagos. He has headlined at least one major solo concert in the city previously: The Fire Concert (January 2, 2022): This was his official debut headline concert in Lagos. It was held at the Balmoral Convention Centre at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, as fans anticipate performances of songs from Fireboy such as Peru, Yawa, Jealous, Dopamine, Iseoluwa and Tattoo.
15.Wizkid – GOAT Experience (December 28, Tafawa Balewa Square) – Ticket price: from ₦ 50,000
Wizkid’s upcoming “GOAT Experience” officially titled GOAT: The Greatest Of All Time Experience is set to be a spectacular homecoming concert at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos on Sunday, December 28, 2025, marking his first major show in the city in several years and thrilling fans who have been waiting since his last big Lagos concert in 2022.

16. DJ Jimmy Jatt Rewind Concert (December 30, Eko Hotel & Suites) – Ticket price: from ₦ 10,000
DJ Jimmy Jatt’s Rewind Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of the city’s Detty December celebrations. Also known as Rewind: A Flashback Concert, the event is all about taking fans on a trip down memory lane, with DJ Jimmy Jatt spinning a mix of classic and modern Nigerian hits. The concert promises a fun, high-energy night filled with familiar songs and a festive end-of-year vibe as confirmed acts for the event includes Dbanj, Sir Shina Peters, 9ice, Bigiano, Cynthia Morgan, Dr Sid.
Last year’s edition, held in December 2024, was a special celebration of DJ Jimmy Jatt’s 40 years in music and featured legendary acts like 2Baba, Daddy Showkey, 9ice, Styl Plus, Duncan Mighty, Tony Tetuila, African China, and Jazzman Olofin. It brought together some of the biggest names who helped shape Nigerian music. This edition is expected to follow the same path, delivering old-school sounds, exciting performances, and an unforgettable party atmosphere.
David Walliams has been removed from the line-up for a children’s book event.
Book retailer Waterstones has confirmed the author will no longer appear at its Children’s Book Festival.
It comes after the TV star was dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK following allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women.
Walliams strongly denies allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
A statement from Waterstones said: “HarperCollins have confirmed that David Walliams will no longer be appearing at our festival in Dundee.”
The festival will span across three locations, also including Lincoln and Taunton. The Dundee event will take place on 6 and 7 February.
Walliams has been removed from the listed speakers list on the festival website.
The 54-year-old comedian, who shot to fame with the BBC sketch show Little Britain, is one of the country’s best-selling children’s writers.
He has written more than 40 books, which have sold more than 60 million copies worldwide and been translated into 55 languages, according to his website.
A spokesperson for HarperCollins UK said it had decided not to release any new titles by Walliams “after careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO”.
“HarperCollins takes employee well-being extremely seriously and has processes in place for reporting and investigating concerns,” they added.
“To respect the privacy of individuals, we do not comment on internal matters.”
In a statement later on Friday, a spokesperson for the comedian and children’s author said: “David has never been informed of any allegations raised against him by HarperCollins.
“He was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions. David strongly denies that he has behaved inappropriately and is taking legal advice.”
The news followed a report from The Daily Telegraph that Walliams was dropped after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards young women.
Actress and filmmaker Ini Edo has made an emotional plea to regulators and the public, urging them not to ban her new movie, A Very Dirty Christmas, insisting that it does not mock Christianity.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Edo begged critics to watch the film before judging, saying she would pull it down if it was found to be offensive.
“Just don’t pull my film, please. Just allow people to watch. Watch the film and come back and say that this film degrades Christians or degrades Christianity. Then I will pull it.
“If it dishonours God or Christians in any way, I will pull it and bear the consequences. I will not be part of something like that,” she said.
The controversy surrounding the film’s title has sparked concerns from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), which described it as offensive and disrespectful to the Christian faith.
Edo explained that the title was never meant to demean the Christian faith, saying the film highlights family conflicts and secrets unfolding, without ridiculing Christians.
“We chose ‘A Very Dirty Christmas.’ It was never to demean Christians or disrespect Christendom or dishonour God.
“This film has no dirt in it. It highlights family conflicts, secrets unfolding. It does not ridicule Christians.
“I did take money from investors to do this film. We have over about 70 cinemas nationwide. We’ve done print, media and digital. I don’t know how we are going to do it,” she said”, she added.
The actress, a devout Christian, apologised to anyone offended by the title, insisting there was no malicious intent.
The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has requested the producer to modify the title.
“However, the Board recognises that public perception and reception are critical elements of effective regulation.
“In light of the concerns raised by CAN, and in the spirit of responsiveness and dialogue, we have requested the producer to modify the title,” the NFVCB said.
Edo has offered to change it, saying Christians are not the people she wants a problem with.
“They’ve asked us to change the title, or they’re going to pull the films from the cinemas. How do I change the name, the title? Christians are not the people I want a problem with because I’m one. I will try to change the title. Just give us some time. Don’t pull the film.
“I am a Christian. Christians are not the people I want a problem with because I’m one. I would never sit in a gathering where Christians are ridiculed,” she said.
She appealed for understanding, asking that her film be given a fair chance and not be pulled from cinemas.
“All I’m asking is, don’t pull my film. Give me a fair fighting ground. Let people watch it.”

A chief magistrate court in Abuja has summoned Okafor Victor, the rapper popularly known as Mr Real, over allegations of criminal defamation involving Nigerian music star D’banj.
In a court summons dated December 18, 2025, and obtained by TheCable Lifestyle, Chief Magistrate Farida Ibrahim directed Mr Real to appear in person before the court on January 19, 2026, to answer charges brought against him by the complainant.
The legal dispute stems from claims made by Mr Real in November, in which he alleged that D’banj, whose real name is Oladapo Oyebanjo, failed to honour a ₦20 million ambassadorial deal. The comments, which were reportedly made publicly, prompted D’banj to seek legal redress.
In a petition filed before the court, Pelumi Olajengbesi, counsel to D’banj, urged the magistrate to issue a criminal summons against the rapper, arguing that the statements amounted to defamatory publications capable of damaging the singer’s reputation.
Olajengbesi also requested an interim injunction restraining Mr Real and anyone acting on his behalf from making or circulating further statements deemed defamatory pending the determination of the complaint.
“The defendant, either by himself or through his agents, servants, privies, cohorts or representatives, should be restrained from further publishing, disseminating, broadcasting or circulating any defamatory videos, comments, statements or publications against the complainant,” the petition read.
Following the filing, the court granted the interim injunction and ordered Mr Real to refrain from making any further public statements about D’banj until the case is resolved. The matter is expected to come up for hearing when the rapper appears in court on January 19, 2026.
Barry Manilow is being treated for lung cancer and has been forced to reschedule live shows, the 82 year-old has revealed.
The Copacabana popstar announced on Instagram that a cancerous spot had been discovered on his left lung.
“As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” he wrote.
“Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.
“The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.”

Manilow, 82, added that the cancer had been found early thanks to “pure luck” and a “great doctor”.
And while he would not require chemotherapy or radiation treatment, he wrote, he would have to undergo surgery, forcing him to reschedule his January shows.
He had been due to embark on a string of arena concerts in US cities including Orlando, Tampa, Charleston, Greensboro and Columbus.
He wrote: “I’m going into surgery to have the spot removed. The doctors do not believe it has spread and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis.
“The only follow-up is a month to recover and that means we have to reschedule the January arena concerts.
“I’m very sorry that you have to change your plans.
“Just like you, we were all looking forward to the January shows and hate having to move everything around.”

Nollywood Actress, Doris Ogala Released Two Days After Arrest Amid Pastor Chris Okafor Controversy
Nigerian actress Doris Ogala has been released from police custody.
Doris was released on Monday after spending two days in police detention.
Earlier, Tori News reported that Doris was arrested on Saturday evening after calling out a popular Lagos-based pastor, Chris Okafor, on social media for allegedly deceiving her with a marriage promise, among other allegations.
Her arrest sparked diverse reactions from Nigerians, with many online personalities including VeryDarkMan calling for her release.
Celebrating her release, Doris in a post on her Instagram page Monday afternoon, thanked human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore and VeryDarkMan for their efforts.
In the short post, she wrote “Thank you Sowore. Thanks so much to my ratel king.”

Funke Akindele has once again cemented her place in Nollywood history with her latest film, Behind the Scenes, which has officially become the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025 while also setting a new record as the fastest Nigerian movie to reach ₦500 million at the box office, pulling in ₦512 million and topping weekend charts across West Africa. The film surpasses the popular action-comedy Gingerr, making Akindele’s achievement all the more remarkable.

Behind the Scenes follows Ronke Fernandez (played by Akindele), a wealthy philanthropist whose family’s constant demands push her to her breaking point, revealing hidden emotional and emotional struggles. Chris Rea, known for hits including Driving Home For Christmas and The Road To Hell, has died after a short illness, according to a family spokesperson.
A statement on behalf of his wife and two children stated: “It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Chris.
“He passed away peacefully in hospital earlier today following a short illness, surrounded by his family.”
Chris Rea arrives at the Odeon Leicester Square for the opening of the London Film Festival in 1996.
The Middlesbrough-born musician was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had his pancreas removed in 2001, and in 2016 he suffered a stroke.

Rea found fame in the late seventies and eighties with hits such as Fool (If You Think It’s Over), Let’s Dance and The Road To Hell.
Rea’s debut album, titled Whatever Happened To Benny Santini?, a reference to the stage name his record label wanted him to adopt, was released in 1978.
His track Fool (If You Think It’s Over), from the album, went on to be nominated for a Grammy.
He did not find such success again for a few years, but by the time his eighth album On The Beach was released, he was a star in the UK and around Europe, with sporadic hits in the US.
When Road To Hell was released in 1989, he became one of the biggest solo stars in the UK. Two of his studio albums – The Road To Hell (1989) and Auberge (1991) – went to number one in the country.
His famous song Driving Home For Christmas, first released in 1986, features in this year’s M&S Food Christmas advert – which sees comedian Dawn French sing along to the single in her car.

Dr. Charles Apoki, a Nigerian clergyman and international conference speaker in several denominations, has released another video about Pastor Chris Okafor‘s marriage, this time focusing on his new wife, Pearl.
Reacting to Pearl’s comment about her dream of having children with Okafor, Apoki, in a video shared via his Facebook page, warned her about expecting her husband to change.
The Christian leader boldly alleged that Okafor is addicted to ‘copulation and immorality,’ claiming there were reports about his promiscuity from around the world.
He added that Pearl will be faced with the challenges of trying to keep a good image of her marriage in public and the reality of a promiscuous husband.
In his words, “I can see you have a lot of aspirations of raising children for him that would be as huge as himself. Chris Okafor will not change. From all the reports right from the United States, from Cameroon, from all over the world. He is addicted to copulation, to immorality, and you are going to be battling with trying to maintain sanity at home by not letting people see you as having made the bad choice and the reality of a promiscuous husband.”
He added in the caption of the video, “An advice for Pearl, Dr. Chris Okafor’s new wife: The reality of promiscuity.”
Recall that Dr. Charles Apoki had previously criticised Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, expressing deep disappointment with his involvement in Chris Okafor’s wedding with Pearl.
Apoki questioned the moral implications of officiating at the wedding amid unresolved allegations.

Taking center stage in Morocco, the Nigerian superstar thrilled fans with an electrifying performance of the tournament’s official soundtrack alongside American rapper French Montana, blending music, football, and continental pride.
The moment marked a powerful full-circle return for Davido, who last appeared at AFCON in 2017. Eight years later, his comeback reflected both his artistic growth and the global rise of African music, as he captivated thousands in the stadium and millions watching across the continent. The performance stood out as one of AFCON 2025’s most memorable off-pitch highlights.
Davido’s AFCON appearance also added to his growing legacy at football’s biggest events. In 2022, he performed at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, having featured on the tournament’s official soundtrack.

1. Tems (2025 FIFA Club World Cup Final)
Tems performed at the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup on July 13 at the MetLife Stadium in the United States, sharing the stage with American rapper Doja Cat and Latin star J Balvin. She performed her grammy-winning single, ‘Love Me Jeje’ off her 2024 debut album. Her performance marked a major milestone as she made her debut appearance at a football event of such global scale and etched her name into the history books on Sunday night as she became the first African artist to perform at the FIFA Club World Cup Final Halftime Show.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup was the inaugural edition of the expanded tournament, which brought together top clubs from around the world, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea, PSG, Juventus, Al Hilal, Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Flamengo, Inter Miami and others. The competition began on June 14 and concluded with a high-profile final in which Chelsea defeated PSG 3-0 thanks to a brace from Cole Palmer and a goal from Joao Pedro to be crowned world champions.
2. Davido (2022 FIFA World Cup Final)
Davido performed the official FIFA 2022 World Cup soundtrack, “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)”, alongside Aisha and Trinidad Cardona. He became the first Nigerian artist to perform at a FIFA World Cup final event, appearing during the closing ceremony on December 18, 2022.
The final saw Argentina defeat France 4–2 on penalties after a dramatic 3–3 draw following extra time. Kylian Mbappé scored a historic hat-trick, while Lionel Messi played a decisive role, scoring twice to lead Argentina to World Cup glory.
3. Burna Boy (2023 UEFA Champions League Final)
Burna Boy delivered a memorable performance at the 2023 UEFA Champions League Final Kick Off Show by Pepsi at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey. He co-headlined the show alongside Brazilian star Anitta, with Swedish DJ Alesso making a guest appearance.
The Afrobeats star thrilled over 80,000 fans with performances of “Last Last” and “It’s Plenty”. On the pitch, Manchester City secured a 1–0 victory over Inter Milan, with Rodri scoring the winning goal to hand the club its first Champions League title.
4. Yemi Alade (Africa Cup of Nations 2023)
Yemi Alade performed at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which took place in 2024, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. She joined Ivorian group Magic System and Egyptian singer Mohamed Ramadan to perform the tournament’s official theme song, “Akwaba”.
The ceremony was held at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara, which has a capacity of 60,000 spectators. The final of the tournament saw Ivory Coast defeat Nigeria 2–1 to be crowned champions of Africa.
5. Rema (Ballon d’Or Ceremony 2023)
Rema made history on October 30, 2023, by becoming the first African artist to perform at the Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. He performed his global hit “Calm Down”, marking a landmark moment for African music.
During the performance, Rema interacted with football stars in attendance, exchanging handshakes with players including Kylian Mbappé, Emiliano Martínez, Aitana Bonmatí, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior, İlkay Gündoğan, Rúben Dias, Rodri, Alejandro Balde, Erling Haaland, and Bernardo Silva. Lionel Messi went on to win his eighth Ballon d’Or on the night.
6. D’banj (2013 Africa Cup of Nations)
D’banj performed at the closing ceremony of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. He performed “Top of the World”, a song that later featured visuals from his performance alongside highlights of Nigeria’s tournament run.
The final was contested between Nigeria and Burkina Faso on February 10, 2013. Nigeria won the match 1–0 thanks to a goal from Sunday Mba, securing their third AFCON title after previous triumphs in 1980 and 1994.
