I Have Strong Structure to Back Tinubu – Governor Fubara Boasts
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that he possesses strong grassroots structures and committed supporters to ensure full backing for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Fubara stated that mobilisation efforts for Tinubu are already about 70 percent complete across the state.
Speaking during the commissioning of the 9.7km Ogbakiri Road project, the governor assured the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of his robust grassroots network and loyal supporters.
He said his confidence is further strengthened by the warm reception and support witnessed during project commissioning activities across various parts of the state.
Fubara reminded citizens of their political responsibility following Wednesday’s engagements with the APC national leadership and urged them to rally behind President Tinubu.
Describing the Ogbakiri Road as a landmark project of his administration, he noted that it was initiated during one of the most challenging periods of his tenure.
The governor recalled that the first tranche of payment for the project was made even when a court ruling blocked the Federal Government from releasing statutory allocations to Rivers State.
He emphasised that the key achievement was the completion of the road as promised, despite the hurdles faced.
Fubara also pledged to examine the cost of extending internal roads in the area and linking the newly commissioned road to Degema via a proposed bridge.

FG unveils revised National Migration Policy 2025 to strengthen governance and security
The Federal Government on Thursday officially presented and validated the Revised National Migration Policy (NMP) 2025, alongside its Integrated Implementation Plan.
The policy was unveiled during the 2025 Migration Dialogue organised by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) in Abuja.
Following the validation, the documents are expected to be forwarded to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for formal adoption.
What Tinubu told stakeholders
Speaking at the event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, charged stakeholders to focus on innovative solutions, collaborative approaches, and effective implementation of the policy.
According to him, the revised framework introduces innovations, strengthens institutional coordination, and provides a clear implementation and monitoring plan.
“We must adopt a governance model that is evidence-based, people-centred, and development-oriented. The Federal Government is fully committed to its operationalisation, and we will work tirelessly with all stakeholders to ensure its effective implementation at national and sub-national levels,” Tinubu said.
Addressing migration realities and displacement
President Tinubu further noted that the revised policy reflects evolving migration realities and aligns with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while ensuring coherence with regional and global instruments.
He commended the support of international partners, including the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), for strengthening Nigeria’s migration governance.
Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, highlighted Nigeria’s current hosting of over six million internally displaced persons, many of whom live outside formal camps.
“This reality reinforces the need for policies that go beyond emergency response and focus on durable solutions, community stabilisation and social cohesion. The revised policy rightly strengthens provision on the internally displaced persons, return, reintegration and community-based recovery,” Sununu said.
He identified poverty as one of the strongest drivers of irregular migration and vulnerability, stressing that migration challenges cannot be addressed without tackling poverty.
NCFRMI and international collaboration
Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI, Alhaji Tijani Ahmed, said the commission has provided strategic guidance that has led to notable progress in the migration sector. He announced that Nigeria will chair the Rabat Process Senior Officials Meeting in January 2026, focusing on climate-induced mobility.
Ahmed explained that beyond policy development, the commission has delivered tangible results.
“In collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration and other partners, the Commission facilitated the voluntary return of over 21,000 stranded Nigerian migrants through more than 97 flights from Libya, Niger, and Chad. In addition, the Commission has coordinated the humanitarian reception of over 2,500 Nigerians who were forcibly returned from Europe and other parts of the world,” he said.
Chief of Mission of IOM, Ms. Dimanche Sharon, described the dialogue as timely.
“Migration is not just about movement across borders or within them but about whether movement leads to dignity or despair, opportunity or uncertainty,” she said, urging institutions at federal, state, and local levels to work together to ensure migration positively impacts lives.

The Revised National Migration Policy 2025 aims to strengthen institutional coordination across migration-related agencies and align Nigeria’s migration governance with international best practices, including the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
Key objectives include:

Petroleum Marketers Back In-country Refining, Oppose Unbridled Fuel Importation – THISDAYLIVE

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) yesterday opposed the uncontrolled importation of petroleum products as well as what it described as the ‘reckless’ issuance of import licenses by the downstream/midstream regulator.
In a briefing in Abuja on recent happenings in the sector, National President of IPMAN, Abubakar Maigandi, stated that the position of the organisation remains the deepening of domestic refining to eradicate imports of petroleum products into Nigeria.
Maintaining that the continuous import of fuel is not an acceptable parallel business model in the sector, IPMAN expressed delight over the recent agreement by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to begin the supply of petroleum products directly to its registered members.
IPMAN also applauded the support of the Chairman of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Aliko Dangote, to the federal government, which, according to the group, has become evident in the regular reduction of petroleum pump prices nationwide.
He added that as the group with the highest number of players in the petroleum supply chain in the downstream sector, controlling over 80 per cent of the petrol retail market, there will be no gap or scarcity in supply to Nigerians.
Maigandi also lauded the recent agreement by the Dangote Refinery to begin the supply of PMS products directly to registered IPMAN members, and its free delivery to their filling stations anywhere and everywhere in Nigeria which will commence in January 2026.
This, he said, will lead to further decrease in the pump price of the products at the filing stations and called on all IPMAN members nationwide to prioritise patronising the Dangote Refinery in the purchase of products, since the facility already offers the most affordable prices for all marketers today.
“At IPMAN we have no doubt as to the viability of the oil and gas policies being initiated by the federal government, and we have ceaselessly called and sought for enhanced cooperation across all levels of governance in the oil and gas sector. Hence our repeated persuasion to always partner the Dangote refinery, to ensure the steady availability of PMS products.
“The focus of the Dangote and IPMAN partnership has always been geared towards making life better for Nigerians. And of course, this blooming partnership would never have been possible without the pragmatic leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his sound judgment in readjusting the leadership of the NMDPRA and the NUPRC.
“Our position has always been to deepen domestic refining in order to eradicate imports of petroleum products. Continuous import is not an acceptable parallel business model because issuing import licenses recklessly distorts market dynamics, drains foreign exchange, enthrones poverty, destroys jobs, and scares potential investors away,” IPMAN pointed out.
While congratulating the new heads of the oil and gas regulatory bodies, IPMAN reminded them of the outstanding bridging claims owed to its members, totalling over N190 billion.
It specifically called on the NMPDRA’s new leadership to immediately make the debt a cause for serious concern as he assumes his new position.
“The independent petroleum marketers normally consider the interest of the government. Since Bola Tinubu has already allowed them to go and do other things, and he has brought in new leadership, actually we support what Mr. President has done.
“And our advice to the new leadership is to let him think of his country. Let him put Nigeria forward in all decisions that he wants to make. Because we cannot import products that we have in the country.
“Let him have a policy whereby the marketers, like we independent petroleum marketers, we can be able to have our refinery and be refining in the country, rather than going outside to be importing,” he argued.

ABUJA –SIX governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, are among the governors and party leaders attending the ruling party’s caucus meeting at the State House Conference, Abuja.
The governors that dumped the PDP for the APC attending their first caucus meeting of the party are Sim Fubara of Rivers State, Peter Mbah of Enugu state, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta state, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom and Agbu Kefas of Taraba state.
Also attending the APC meeting are the former Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, a former President of the Senate, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and his counterpart, Senator Ken Nnamani, all were former members of the PDP.
The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, the deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau the deputy speaker, Benjamin Kalu are also present.
The APC serving and former governors, members of the national working committee are also in attendance.
The meeting is being observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, I NEC.

The Rivers State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim and neutralized two suspected kidnappers in a daring operation carried out by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU), Emohua Annex.
According to a statement signed by SP Grace Iringe-Koko, Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, the victim, a female resident of Omademe Community, was abducted on Friday, December 5, 2025, along Ozuaha Road in Emohua Local Government Area.
SP Iringe-Koko stated that the victim’s brother approached the police on December 9, 2025, seeking assistance to secure his sister’s release.
The abductors had demanded a ransom of N1.2m and threatened to kill the victim if the payment was not made promptly.
“The police operatives, determined to bring the perpetrators to justice, swiftly mobilized and executed a carefully planned operation to rescue the victim,” SP Iringe-Koko said.
She explained that at about 11:30 a.m., the police team, led by seasoned operatives and using intelligence-led operations, covertly stormed the kidnapper’s hideout located in a forested area off Ozuaha Road, where the suspects were sharing the ransom.
According to her, upon sighting the police operatives, the heavily armed kidnappers opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
“The police, displaying exemplary bravery and professionalism, neutralized two of the kidnappers, while others fled into the forest with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.
“The victim was rescued unhurt, and part of the ransom was recovered. Other exhibits recovered at the scene include one pump-action rifle, five live cartridges, two expended cartridges, and one locally-made pistol.”
SP Iringe-Koko quoted the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, as commending the bravery and dedication of the operatives involved, who put their lives on the line to ensure the safe rescue of the victim.
The police are urging anyone with credible information about the fleeing suspects to come forward and assist the authorities.
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday pledged his administration’s resolve to ensure the effective implementation of the revised National Migration Policy and other relevant policies.
The President gave the assurance in Abuja during the 2025 National Migration Dialogue, themed “Setting a New Momentum for National Migration Governance: Migrants as Missionaries of Hope,” organised by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).
President Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, specifically applauded NCFRMI for leading the development of a National Referral Mechanism for vulnerable migrants; the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment for reviewing the National Labour Migration Policy to further strengthen fair recruitment, skills mobility and the protection of Nigerian workers; as well as the Nigeria Migration Data Management Working Group, led by the National Bureau of Statistics and the National Population Commission, for developing a National Strategy on Migration Data to improve evidence-based decision-making.
According to him, some of the policies adopted include the National Policy on Health Workers’ Migration, which complements the revised National Migration Policy, and the National Diaspora Policy, aimed at advancing stronger diaspora engagement and national development.
He said: “Distinguished participants, migration is a defining issue of our time. It affects economic growth, national security, diaspora engagement, labour mobility, climate resilience and sustainable development.
“With over 20 million Nigerians living abroad, remittances exceeding 20 billion dollars annually, and increasing internal mobility shaped by climate-induced pressures, we must adopt a governance model that is evidence-based, people-centred and development-oriented.
“The revised National Migration Policy introduces innovations, strengthens institutional coordination, and provides a clear implementation plan and monitoring framework. The Federal Government is fully committed to its operationalisation, and we will work tirelessly with all stakeholders to ensure its effective implementation at national and sub-national levels.”
On his part, the NCFRMI Federal Commissioner, Hon. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed, explained that beyond policy development, the Commission has continued to deliver tangible results across the migration continuum.
In collaboration with the International Organization for Migration and other partners, the Commission this year supported the voluntary return of over 21,000 stranded Nigerian migrants through more than 97 flights from Libya, Niger and Chad, facilitated through the Lagos, Abuja and Kano airports.

In addition, the Commission coordinated the humanitarian reception of over 2,500 Nigerians forcibly returned from Europe and other parts of the world. These returnees are currently at various stages of reintegration, supported through coordinated interventions led by the Commission and other relevant agencies.
One notable reintegration programme is the Commission’s collaboration with ActionAid and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), which has resulted in the skills training, empowerment and reintegration support of over 300 returned migrants in Abuja, Lagos and Edo State under the RECONNECT Project.
“Many of these beneficiaries are already recording success in their businesses and livelihoods, demonstrating that well-structured reintegration support can restore dignity and promote self-reliance,” he said.
In the area of internal displacement and durable solutions, Ahmed noted that the Commission has made significant progress, including the operationalisation of resettlement cities in various states of the federation, with the resettlement city in Nasarawa State serving as a flagship example.
Inaugurated by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the resettlement city currently provides a new lease of life to over 200 refugee, migrant and internally displaced households. These resettlement cities are equipped with housing, schools, markets, health and religious facilities, ensuring a holistic and dignified pathway to recovery.
He added that the Commission has concluded regional and zonal engagements and recently validated the National Action Plan on Durable Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons, in its capacity as Nigeria’s lead agency on durable solutions.
“This Action Plan is critical as it shifts our response from emergency management to sustainable recovery, integration and development for internally displaced persons and their host communities,” he said.
Ahmed further assured that the Commission is revitalising its durable solutions strategies through innovative approaches, including the adoption of smart agriculture and soilless farming techniques. Many internally displaced persons are already undergoing training and transitioning towards self-sustainability, demonstrating the potential of livelihoods-based solutions in breaking cycles of dependency.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Gumel, to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police.
The Commission also approved the promotion of seven Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, 13 Deputy Commissioners of Police to Commissioners of Police, 30 Assistant Commissioners of Police to Deputy Commissioners of Police, 51 Chief Superintendents of Police to Assistant Commissioners of Police, 542 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents of Police, 119 Deputy Superintendents of Police to Superintendents of Police, and 12 Assistant Superintendents of Police to Deputy Superintendents of Police.

A man has expressed disappointment after taking delivery of a tricycle (popularly known as Keke Napep or Maruwa) he ordered from a popular foreign online store. The incident, captured in a viral video, has sparked widespread reactions on social media.
According to the man, he purchased the item for ₦35,000, believing he was buying a full-sized tricycle based on the product images displayed online. However, upon delivery, he was shocked to discover that the item was merely a small toy version of a Keke Napep.
The viral clip shows another man mocking the buyer while displaying the miniature tricycle, highlighting the stark difference between expectation and reality. Social media users have since reacted with humour, with many warning others to be more cautious when shopping online.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has disposed of counterfeit, prohibited and expired pharmaceutical products valued at more than N55 billion in Oyo State.
The destruction exercise was conducted on Thursday at the Moniya dumpsite in Ibadan, within Akinyele Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, said the action was aimed at permanently removing unsafe medicines, medical devices and other regulated products from circulation.
Her remarks were delivered by the Deputy Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Mrs Florence Ubah.
She explained that the exercise was necessary to ensure that seized expired, substandard and falsified products do not re-enter the supply chain and pose risks to public health.
According to NAFDAC, the items destroyed included fake and expired drugs, unsafe cosmetics, contaminated or unwholesome food items, counterfeit products and other regulated goods confiscated from manufacturers, importers and distributors.
Adeyeye also disclosed that more than 70 companies, non-governmental organisations and trade unions voluntarily submitted damaged and expired products for disposal.
“The total estimated market value of the items destroyed today stands at N55,436,844,470,” she stated.
She commended security agencies such as the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services, the NDLEA and other partners for their collaboration in tackling the circulation of fake and unsafe products.
The NAFDAC boss further urged religious and community leaders, healthcare professionals, media practitioners and members of the public to intensify awareness campaigns on the dangers of purchasing drugs and food items from unauthorised sources.
The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC) in collaboration with the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the US Secret Service have apprehended three internet fraudsters in Edo and Lagos State.
Naija News reports that the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
The suspect’s allegedly targeted email systems of major corporate organisations mostly in Nigeria.
According to the statement, the suspects carry out the crimes “through the deployment of phishing links and malicious software.
The arrest followed credible and actionable intelligence received from Microsoft Corporation, FBI, which revealed the “use of a sophisticated phishing toolkit known as RaccoonO365”.
The Force PRO said the toolkit was designed to create fraudulent Microsoft login portals aimed at harvesting user credentials and unlawfully accessing the email platforms of corporate, financial, and educational institutions.
He said, “Consequently, the NPF–NCCC initiated a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation in collaboration with Microsoft, the FBI, and the United States Secret Service.
“Investigations traced multiple incidents of unauthorised Microsoft 365 account access between January and September 2025 to phishing emails crafted to closely mimic legitimate Microsoft authentication pages.
“These activities resulted in business email compromise, data breaches, and financial losses across multiple jurisdictions.
“Acting on precise and actionable intelligence, NPF–NCCC operatives were deployed to Lagos and Edo States, leading to the arrest of three suspects.
“Search operations conducted at their residences resulted in the recovery of laptops, mobile devices, and other digital equipment, which have been linked to the fraudulent scheme after forensic analysis.
“Further investigations identified Okitipi Samuel, also known as “RaccoonO365” and “Moses Felix,” as the principal suspect and developer of the phishing infrastructure.
“Investigations reveal that he operated a Telegram channel through which phishing links were sold in exchange for cryptocurrency and hosted fraudulent login portals on Cloudflare using stolen or fraudulently obtained email credentials.
“Notably, investigations revealed no evidence linking the two other arrested individuals to the creation or operation of the phishing scheme.
“The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its steadfast commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s digital space through the deployment of advanced technology, strengthened international partnerships, and diligent investigative and prosecutorial processes aimed at effectively countering evolving cyber threats”.
