The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, 25th December, 2025; Friday, 26th December, 2025 and Thursday, 1st January, 2026 as public holidays to celebrate Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year respectively.

The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Controversial social media influencer and activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has threatened to release what he described as “damaging and criminal evidence” against Pastor Chris Okafor of Grace Nation Bible Ministry and Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin if actress Doris Ogala is not released from custody by Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

Naija News reports that VeryDarkMan made the threat on Sunday afternoon in a video shared on his Instagram page while reacting to the arrest of the Nollywood actress.

In the video, the influencer alleged that Ogala was being detained because she claimed to possess incriminating evidence against the clerics, adding that the authorities were trying to confiscate and destroy such evidence.

“Let me advise you, just let her go. Everything you think is on her phone is with me. So, you better let her go,” he warned.

He added, “I give you until Tuesday to let her go. If you don’t let her go, there’s no problem, then we all start. And you know what I do? I go very hard.”

Allegations Against Pastors

VeryDarkMan accused Pastor Okafor and Prophet Fufeyin of allegedly manipulating Ogala and using her to cover up serious crimes, insisting that she was more of a victim than a perpetrator.

“Doris is not as evil as the pastors that use her to cover atrocity, the pastor that manipulated her and promised to buy her a car so that she could do their bidding,” he alleged.

He further accused some clerics of exploiting women and minors under the guise of religion.

“These so-called evil men of God hide under the name of Jesus Christ to take advantage of women, girl children, boys, and married women under the name of Jesus Christ,” he said.

Ogala Was Used

The influencer claimed that Ogala had shared all the alleged evidence with him before her arrest, stressing that she acted as an accomplice under manipulation.

“Please note that Doris was used; she was an accomplice. Take it from me,” he said, adding that many women had similar stories involving religious leaders.

VeryDarkMan also claimed that he had taken steps to ensure the evidence would not be suppressed, even if he was arrested.

“Trust me, I have so much proof. It will be very messy,” he said.

“I have sent all the evidence to 20 different persons and I will wipe the chats… just in case the police pick me up, they will just be seeing evidence flying right and centre.”

He directly addressed the clerics, saying, “I’m talking to you, Chris Okafor. I’m talking to you, Jeremiah. If by Tuesday I don’t see that lady, hell will be let loose.”

The arrest of Doris Ogala has continued to generate controversy on social media.

The actress was arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025, after publicly calling out Pastor Chris Okafor over his alleged failure to fulfil a marriage promise to her.

In a series of Instagram posts before her arrest, Ogala alleged that she assisted Pastor Okafor and Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin in suppressing the case of a missing child identified as Testimony, as well as other alleged criminal matters.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police nor the Department of State Services had officially reacted to VeryDarkMan’s claims.

Similarly, Pastor Chris Okafor and Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin were yet to respond to the allegations levelled against them.

A mechanic workshop in Ogbomoso, Oyo State has been ravaged by fire, DAILY POST reports.

DAILY POST gathered that the workshop is located at Agboni area in Ogbomoso.

Our correspondent gathered that properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of the inferno.

The incident according to sources occurred on Saturday.

It was learnt that fire was caused by some items that were not attended to.

Properties worth millions of naira were said to be affected during the incident.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.

Akinwande in a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST on Sunday noted that no life was lost in the incident.

He said, “Upon arrival, it was discovered that a mechanic workshop is on fire,  well alight.

“Immediately firemen swung into action  and restricted the fire from spreading to nearby residential building.

“Properties worth millions of naira were saved by the fire service. No casualty was recorded, the fire incident was as a result of an ember left unattended to ignited combustible materials and caught fire.”

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a stern warning to telecommunications operators to urgently improve the quality of their services or face regulatory sanctions, following mounting complaints from subscribers over persistent network failures.

The warning, described by industry insiders as a “riot act,” comes amid widespread frustration by consumers who say telecom services have been largely unreliable since the yuletide period.

To demonstrate its resolve, the NCC has published a data-driven network performance report developed in partnership with Ookla, a global leader in network intelligence and performance measurement, clearly showing how each operator is performing across key indicators.

The report revealed a growing divide in Nigeria’s telecom sector, with some operators making notable progress in high-speed delivery while others continue to struggle with service consistency.

According to the findings, MTN emerged with the strongest national performance profile, consistently delivering high download and upload speeds alongside relatively stable latency and jitter values.

“The data shows that MTN has maintained a balanced network experience across the country,” the report stated, noting that its performance placed it ahead of competitors in overall Quality of Service.

However, the report painted a less flattering picture of Globacom, indicating that latency and jitter are significantly affecting its network performance.

The NCC noted that these issues are having a direct impact on real-time applications such as video calls and online payment platforms, resulting in poor user experience for subscribers on the Glo network.

Analysis of T2 (9mobile) also showed uneven performance across different regions. While the operator recorded occasional high-speed peaks, the report said there remains “a significant gap” in its overall national Quality of Service.

For Airtel, the report highlighted a performance dip as the sector transitions towards 5G deployment, with latency identified as an area requiring urgent improvement.

Nevertheless, the regulator acknowledged Airtel’s strength in urban centres, noting that the network continues to maintain a competitive edge in download speeds through its 4G infrastructure.

The Commission explained that its partnership with Ookla reflects a deliberate shift towards data-driven regulation aimed at improving transparency and accountability in the telecom sector.

Published quarterly, the report is designed to empower consumers to make informed decisions based on independent analytics rather than marketing claims by operators.

According to Vanguard, a senior NCC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Commission was no longer prepared to tolerate poor service delivery.

“For the Commission, the gloves are off. The telcos will have to adjust or get a hammer. You need to see the report and you wouldn’t ask why people are not able to enjoy telecom services anymore. At this time of our telecom life? No, the regulator is now out to do its job,” the official said.

The official stressed that the NCC’s new approach would eliminate accusations of bias while strengthening regulatory oversight.

“We are driving towards a data-driven regulatory regime, so nobody will accuse us of bias. Although I am not supposed to talk officially on the issue, what I am telling you is the mind of the Commission,” he added.

He further explained that evidence-based regulation would help attract infrastructure investment and improve nationwide connectivity.

“Data-driven regulation strengthens transparency and drives better service delivery nationwide. When we identify these service gaps, it helps the Commission make evidence-based policy interventions that attract infrastructure investment and ensure reliable connectivity for all Nigerians,” the official stated.

With the publication of the report, industry watchers say telecom operators are now under intense pressure to fix long-standing network issues or risk facing the full weight of the regulator.

A politician and businessman based in the Daura area of Katsina State, Nalado Usman Yusuf, has called the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, to re-contest in 2027.

Adebayo, an Ondo State–born lawyer, businessman and public affairs commentator, has remained loyal to the SDP after the 2023 elections despite reported overtures from other political parties.

Describing him as a politician to watch ahead of the 2027 polls, Yusuf said his experience and background were enough reasons for him to present himself again to voters in 2027.

He said Adebayo’s continued allegiance to the SDP underscores his reputation as a principled politician rather than a roving aspirant in search of an electoral ticket.

He noted that his consistency and personal wealth suggest he is driven more by a desire to reform the country than by personal gain.

He emphasised that during the 2023 campaign, Adebayo ran under the slogan “Hope Again 2023,” which he said could be reworked into a 2027 message focused on national “rescue,” particularly in response to Nigeria’s current economic and security challenges.

“Beyond politics, Adebayo is the founder of King Adebayo Film and Theatre Arts Network (KAFTAN-TV), a television station and has been involved in business and philanthropy.

“This mix of private-sector experience and public engagement positions him well to address Nigeria’s complex governance issues,” he stated.

On economic reform features, he said: “Adebayo should ensure turning around Nigeria’s economy as a matter of priority. He should give it the attention it deserves and the transformation it needs.

“The value of the Naira should be raised, revenue generation should be commensurate with the earnings of any payer, budgets should be implemented fully, foreign investments should be encouraged, and debts should be managed sincerely while attempts should be made to offset them gradually, but unfailingly.”

On the security front, he said it was another central concern, stressing that insecurity, particularly in northern Nigeria, had disrupted economic and social life and required decisive action, including better deployment of security forces and greater use of modern technology such as surveillance and intelligence-gathering tools.

He also highlighted education, agriculture and social welfare as areas that need urgent attention. “Proposals include increased budgetary allocations to education, improved welfare for teachers, the introduction of modern agricultural technology to boost food production, and expanded access to healthcare, clean water and housing. Skills acquisition programmes and social support for vulnerable citizens are also seen as critical,” he said.

Speaking on industrialisation, he called on Adebayo to consider the revival of the moribund industries, encouragement of new manufacturing ventures and incentives for investors.

He also stressed the need to revitalise the civil service, ensure timely payment of salaries and pensions, clear debts owed to contractors and promote transparency in governance.

Encouraging Adebayo not to give but to draw inspiration from the late Muhammadu Buhari, who tried several times before becoming president, he said: “Your Excellency, you have seen it all. Apart from being a lawyer and a businessman of international repute, you are equally a philanthropist who is also familiar with the art of governance.

“It is, therefore, a duty on you to present yourself again for election in 2027. After all, former President Muhammadu Buhari gave a shot at the presidency about three times before he could finally tear the net in 2015.”

For Nigeria’s defence, complacency is the real enemy. Underestimate Samatta, and he will punish lapses, either by clever positioning or by creating space for teammates. He may not dominate possession, but he knows exactly how to dominate moments.

Simon Msuva: The milestone hunter

If Tanzania are to write a slice of AFCON history in Fez, Simon Msuva is the man most likely to hold the pen.

The 27-year-old is a rare blend: a free-scoring midfielder with the lungs of a box-to-box engine and the vision of a playmaker. Technically assured and tactically flexible, Salum can operate as a number ten, a deep-lying organiser or a relentless presser who pops up everywhere from his own box to Nigeria’s penalty area.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has unsealed the headquarters of Ikeja Electric Plc after the company committed to a binding undertaking to comply with the remedial process following consumer rights violations.

The headquarters was earlier sealed on December 11, 2025, because Ikeja Electric failed to comply with a NERC directive to unbundle a Maximum Demand account into 20 individual accounts for a customer who had been without power for over two and half years.

According to a press release by the Director, Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, Ikeja Electric undertook to resolve all consumer complaints referred to it by the FCCPC within agreed timelines. Any breach of the undertaking would expose it to renewed and escalated enforcement action under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act.

Reacting, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the FCCPC, Mr Tunji Bello, said the Commission’s intervention was necessary to enforce the provisions of the FCCPA (2018).

“Our responsibility is to ensure that consumers are treated fairly and that service providers comply with lawful decisions and directives. Enforcement is not an end in itself. Where compliance is achieved and credible commitments are made, the Commission will respond appropriately,” he said.

Clarifying further, Mr Bello said the outcome reflects the Commission’s balanced approach to regulation.

“We intervene decisively where consumer harm persists, and we de-escalate where enforceable compliance is secured. What remains constant is our duty to protect consumers and uphold regulatory accountability,” he said.
