Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, has raised concerns over the whereabouts and response of President Bola Tinubu following reports of a United States–led military operation allegedly carried out on Nigerian soil with the cooperation of the Federal Government.

In a post on Friday, Momodu said Nigerians were informed “from far away USA” about the operation while many were still marking Christmas celebrations, describing the information released as “foggy and brief.”

He questioned why the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, had not immediately addressed the nation or returned to Abuja to coordinate the country’s response alongside security chiefs and members of the war cabinet.

“In normal climes, we would have expected our own President to immediately abort his vacation and return to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, surrounded by his war cabinet, and his media team rolling out updates to a usually under-informed nation,” Momodu stated.

While acknowledging the global fight against terrorism, the media personality cautioned against any action that could be interpreted as an abdication of Nigeria’s sovereignty, urging President Tinubu to take visible leadership at what he described as a “crucial and historic moment.”

He appealed to the President to clearly define Nigeria’s position and reassure citizens, stressing that transparency and decisive leadership were essential in matters relating to national security.

Momodu noted further that the country remained in prayers amid the unfolding developments, as Nigerians await official clarification from the Presidency and security authorities on the reported operation.

Two suspects have been arrested and arraigned before a court in Nasarawa State by the Nasarawa state police command for allegedly possessing banned knockouts and fireworks.

The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora has formally announced the safe return of every student and staff member abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Schools, Papiri, in Niger State. This final confirmation marks the end of a harrowing month-long ordeal that began on November 21, 2025.

In a detailed reconciliation statement, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, the Bishop of Kontagora and proprietor of the school, verified that 230 persons were rescued and have since been reunited with their families.

Breaking Down the Figures

The Diocese provided a clear breakdown of the rescued individuals to resolve earlier conflicting reports:

• Nursery/Primary Pupils: 204
• Secondary Students: 14
• Staff Members: 12
• Total Verified Abductees: 230

Addressing why initial reports suggested over 300 people were missing, Bishop Yohanna explained that the panic following the predawn raid led to significant discrepancies.

“A joint verification exercise by the state government, security agencies and school authorities later revealed that not all parents were present during the exercise… Some pupils fled into nearby bushes and did not immediately return for the first headcount, while some parents were absent during verification.”

The Bishop clarified that of the initial 315 listed as missing:

• 50 escaped in the first 48 hours.
• 35 were later found to have never been abducted or had escaped early and gone straight to their homes.
• 100 were released on December 7.

The final 130 were secured on December 21, bringing the verified total to 230.

The rescue was a coordinated effort involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the DSS, the Armed Forces, and the Niger State Government. Bishop Yohanna described the homecoming as the “best Christmas gift” the church could receive.

“A second and final verification conducted by the school authorities in collaboration with the Parents-Teachers Association established that an additional 35 persons had either not been abducted or had escaped earlier… We are deeply grateful to the Nigerian government, the Niger State government, and all security agencies whose interventions were instrumental in bringing this painful episode to an end.”

The school remains committed to providing counseling and healing support for the affected families as they begin their recovery process.

When our reporter visited the facility on Tuesday, the transformation was impossible to miss. What was once an eyesore has been reborn as a masterpiece of art, leisure, and public space — a carefully curated beauty to behold.

Across social media, excited residents shared photographs of the upgraded facility, commending Governor Umo Eno for restoring a landmark many had written off.

A Plaza once left to wither

Ibom Plaza was not always this alive.

Once a rallying point for tourists, families, artists, photographers, and football lovers, the centre fell into visible decline after years of poor maintenance. Small business owners who depended on the plaza for survival were forcefully removed by the Akwa Ibom State Government, with assurances that upgrades would follow. But months passed. Nothing happened.

The empty, fenced space became a symbol of a broader governance issue — displacement without development. Media reports, including earlier stories by PREMIUM TIMES, questioned why a strategic public asset was allowed to rot after livelihoods had been disrupted in the name of renovation.

Public pressure mounted. Then, quietly, the plaza was shut down for upgrades, with the state government eventually rising to the occasion.

‘We needed to reclaim the plaza’ ­— Eno

Governor Eno, who formally reopened the facility on Tuesday, 23 December, framed the upgrade as a deliberate act of reclaiming public space.

“We needed to reclaim the plaza and make it a place where we can all gather like a town square to watch movies and listen to a live band,” he said.

The governor announced the establishment of a security outpost, restricted operating hours — opening at 7 a.m. and closing at midnight — and plans for a master plan for the area.

“The best is yet to come to this plaza,” Mr Eno added, disclosing a future vision that includes a flyover linking Wellington Bassey Way, separating vehicular movement from commercial and leisure activities beneath the proposed flyover.

At the reopening, the weight of that history hung in the air.

Standing before the refurbished facility, Uwemedimo Udo, chairperson of Uyo Local Government Area, recalled the original vision behind the plaza.

“This place was completely dead,” Mr Udo said, stressing that the decline was never the intention of former Governor Victor Attah, who delivered the plaza to the people on 26 December 2002 as part of his urban renewal programme.

“But I’m happy today that you’ve brought life back to Ibom Plaza,” he told Governor Eno.

Mr Udo assured residents that the plaza would not relapse into neglect, pledging continued maintenance and collaboration with agencies responsible for the facility.

From ‘den of criminals’ to civic space

For Anietie Eka, chairperson of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority — the agency supervising the plaza — the reopening marked a decisive break from a troubled past.

“Over the years, this place became a den for criminals,” he said.

He described the transformation as a return to the plaza’s founding identity, which Mr Attah once named “the beauty of vision.”

That vision, he said, is now visible again.

Now, Ibom Plaza tells a different story.

The once-dried water fountain is alive again, dancing in rhythmic sprays that draw curious onlookers. The restored Offot Ukwa statue stands proudly, no longer crumbling but commanding attention as a reclaimed cultural symbol.

The giant television screen — once a relic — now beams again, restoring a feature that once made the plaza a modern public attraction.

Flowers sway gently, softening the concrete edges of the space. At night, the water fountain sparkles, light reflects off the water and walls, creating a renewed sense of calm and invitation, residents told PREMIUM TIMES during the visit.

A living gallery in the open

Perhaps the most striking change is the art. The walls are no longer bare. They tell stories.

Beautiful, carefully executed paintings line the plaza, including portraits of Akwa Ibom’s civilian governors, woven into a broader narrative of history, identity, and continuity. Other artworks add colour, texture, and curiosity, pulling passersby closer and urging them to pause.

Ibom Plaza has become a living gallery — an open-air exhibition where art and public life intersect. It is, once again, a space to hold, admire, and experience.

Even the tall flower trees have not been overlooked. Carefully painted in Akwa Ibom and national colours — orange, green, and white — they rise as quiet symbols of identity, adding to a facility that is once again a beauty to behold.

But the upgrade goes beyond surface beautification.

Tourism sits at the heart of Governor Eno’s economic blueprint, the Arise Agenda, with Ibom Plaza now repositioned as part of a broader strategy to revive leisure and tourism in the state.

To drive that vision, the government is developing the Arise Park Resort, upgrading the Ibom Icon Hotels, and completing long-abandoned projects at the Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Centre and the International Conference Centre— moves aimed at restoring Akwa Ibom’s place on Nigeria’s tourism map.

Why Ibom Plaza matters

Ibom Plaza’s decline mattered because of what it once represented.

Akwa Ibom State, home to a FIFA-approved international stadium, has hosted Nigeria’s Super Eagles and visiting foreign teams. Players, officials, and tourists often converged at the plaza — taking photographs, relaxing, and absorbing the ambience of Uyo.

That era faded as neglect set in.

With the current upgrade, there is a renewed hope that the plaza can reclaim its role as a social and tourism hub — a place where locals and visitors intersect, presenting the city at its best.

Livelihoods on hold

Yet beyond official optimism, displaced livelihoods linger.

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday, Emmanuel Sunday, a photographer, welcomed the upgrade but urged the management to consider former occupants in allocating spaces.

Another photographer, Sunny, said he was among those forcefully removed before the renovation. “I was one of those forcefully removed,” he said. “My livelihood depended on it.”

Similarly, Comfort Akpan, a former kiosk owner, appealed for inclusion but expressed fear that post-upgrade costs might shut her out. “I want them to just approve a space for me to continue my business,” she said.

For residents like Victor Okon, however, the revived giant screen already holds promise. “This is where I’ll be watching live football matches,” he said, referring to the English Premier League and Champions League.

The lingering question

Yet, beneath the admiration lies a familiar worry.

Akwa Ibom, like many parts of Nigeria, struggles with a weak maintenance culture. Public projects often shine briefly before slipping back into neglect.

The question many residents now ask quietly is not how beautiful Ibom Plaza looks today, but how long this beauty will last.

Will this restoration be sustained? Will traders and creatives be reintegrated thoughtfully? Will maintenance be institutionalised rather than reactive?

“To think that the Plaza was shut down for almost two years and it took only two weeks to turn it around tells us: when there is a will, there is a way. We only hope that the jobs were not done in such a hurry to meet the Christmas deadline as to diminish the quality,” Herbert Batta, a professor in the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Uyo, said in a Facebook post.

For now, Ibom Plaza stands renewed — proof that decay is not irreversible and that public spaces, when cared for, can restore civic pride.

Its rebirth is welcome. Its survival will depend on consistency, transparency, and care.

A music professional, educationist and researcher, Dr kayode Morohunfola, has disclosed that music in Nigeria is not where it is supposed to be.

Morohunfola made the revelation at the Stagecoach Nigeria music presentation at
Ijeshatedo Children’s Christmas Community Concert Edition which featured Christmas Joy by Pam Andrews, Carol Africana, and Instrumental/Orchestra presentations and training which took place on 20th December, 2025.

He stated, “The music level in churches today is far far below expectations, so this kind of training will help the church.

“Some of these children, we are training them towards so many things, some of them will go to the popular space, some of them will go to the sacred place, while some of them will like to combine the two. So this is what we are trying to do. Musical training will go a long way even in shaping the popular music space, a lot of music in Nigeria is not where it supposed to be. It is not the fault of the musicians but lack of training. So these are some of the lacuna we are trying to fill,” the musical professional disclosed.

Speaking about his personal life and what he does, Morohunfola said, “I am a music professional, and in addition to music, I studied some other courses, economics, education, and even I still do some other things before I studied music up to doctorate level. My wife Adetoun Morohunfola, is also a music graduate, she has been involved in a lot of productions. She has been working with children, and working with teenagers, she is a teacher at Queens College and at the same time she has also worked with adults. Working with adults is at church level.

“Apart from all of my studies, I have so many years of experience as a church pianist and church choir master. I have taught in primary school, secondary school, and I have taught at university level too. I was the former Head of Department, Music Department, Bowen University and currently, I serve as a lecturer at the Mountain Top Conservatory of Music, Yaba, Lagos. Apart from these, I am also into research, Musicological Research, I have a lot of publications to my credit and I have presented paper both locally and internationally, I have also been involved in music performances both locally and internationally,” he stated.

On the evolution of Music in Nigeria and contributions of the church in music development, the Music expert said, “In the 50s, 40s, 60s, and up till the 70s, churches were not as much as this, and much of the churches were the conventional churches, such as the Methodist, Catholic, Anglican, most of them, at that point, trained teachers, and part of the vital trainings they gave to teachers through their teachers training colleges was music then.

“So most of them ended up becoming organists, pianists and choir masters in most churches. But even most of their music teachers then, they were the Europeans and Americans missionaries, who used their influence to bring in a lot of instruments to Nigeria,” he disclosed.

Speaking also was his wife who studied Music, Adetoun Morohunfola, she said, “As much as we want to thank God for the success of the just concluded Community concert with regard to Ijeshatedo Community, we are highly motivated by all we have been doing from time past knowing that this area of expertise lies around music.

“Now what we are all doing is just to make an impact in our environment. I must tell you, we started from the church ourselves because we are musicians, not just musicians in the church, we are actually learned people who went to school and acquired this knowledge in this area of expertise as we have been able to combine it with our talent and seeing it as a calling.”

She said the focus of the training they are giving are the young ones “Of course, the people that are benefiting from that are the middle age people, young people who are either children or early teenagers.

“Really before now, we operated in the secular space and we have also operated in the sacred space, why because when we go to church, we have the opportunity to work with little children, we take them on concert and our concerts are not mere concerts, they are concerts that tell stories. So they are not like classical presentations.

“Now in the secular we have also done this outside of the church because if you are looking at presentations, yes the presentations are actually inside of the church, but there are times we have gone outside of the church organising just what you saw on Saturday.

“And we have to rent a hall to be able to make our presentations even when they are related to bible stories.

“Now outside of the Bible stories, there are other stories that are presented in songs and in drama that we have, those are called non-seasonal presentations, so non-seasonal presentations can actually be either sacred or secular musicals,” she stated.

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has tasked Nigerians to pray for the country to get the right kind of leaders.

It also asked Nigerians to pray for the victims, families, and communities affected by the Christmas Eve bombing at a mosque in Borno State.

A Christmas message by the party, signed by its national publicity secretary of ADC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, also urged prayers and appreciation for security personnel and essential service providers who continue to serve the nation, while the others celebrate the festivities.

Abdullah, who extended the Christmas wishes of the ADC, said the party is mindful that too many Nigerians are celebrating under difficult circumstances, amidst rising food costs, persistent insecurity, and a deep and disturbing doubt about the future of the nation.

The party spokesman added, “As we do so, let us bear in mind that Nigeria’s greatest strength lies in its people, in our collective resilience, our enduring compassion, and our consistent commitment to one another across faiths and communities.

“Therefore, amongst others, let us spare a moment to pray for the victims, families, and communities affected by the Christmas Eve bombing at a mosque in Borno State. This tragedy is a poignant reminder that the situation in our country threatens us all, regardless of the language we speak or how we worship God.

US Congressman Riley Moore has praised recent airstrikes in North-West Nigeria, describing them as a decisive measure to protect Christian communities and address the country’s ongoing security challenges.

Speaking on Friday via his X handle, Moore said the strikes, conducted in coordination with the Nigerian government, marked “just the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the security crisis affecting all Nigerians.”

“President Trump has been clear that the killing of Christians in Nigeria must end. As I stated at the outset: Do not test President Trump‘s resolve in this matter,” the congressman added.

The comments follow reports that US forces, under President Donald Trump’s direction, carried out airstrikes against ISIS-linked terrorist elements in North-West Nigeria.

In a separate statement, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that Washington acted with Nigeria’s cooperation.

“The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end. The Department of War is always ready…Grateful for Nigerian government support & cooperation,” Hegseth wrote.

The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed that the strikes formed part of structured security cooperation with international partners to combat terrorism and violent extremism.

Moore recently concluded a fact-finding mission in Nigeria to investigate attacks on Christian communities, describing the experience as deeply disturbing. Leading a five-member congressional delegation, he visited IDP camps, survivors of terrorist attacks, Christian leaders, and traditional rulers in Benue State.

The delegation also met with the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Attorney General, Lateef Fagbemi.

Moore earlier confirmed that President Trump tasked him and House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole to submit a report with recommendations by the end of the month, following Nigeria’s designation as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged Christian killings.

The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) has called on the new chief executives of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, to prioritise domestic refining over imported product.

CPPE made the call in a statement made available to Nairametrics.

The call is coming shortly after Saidu Aliyu Mohammed assumed duty as the new chief executive following the resignation of Ahmed Farouk.

Mrs Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan has also assumed duty following a handover from the immediate past Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe, who resigned last week.

What CPPE is saying 

CPPE stressed that strong and deliberate support for domestic refining must be an immediate and non-negotiable priority.

It called for government policy to clearly favour locally refined petroleum products through targeted fiscal, regulatory, and infrastructural support for both public and private refineries, while encouraging new investments in refining capacity.

“Nigeria must end the current distortion whereby imported petroleum products are made to compete with locally refined products under unequal regulatory and fiscal conditions. Genuine competition only exists when all operators function within the same policy, tax and regulatory environment,” CPPE noted.

The group added that a strong domestic refining base is fundamental to building a resilient, energy-secure economy, while also driving job creation, foreign exchange conservation, macroeconomic stability, and export-oriented refining capacity.

“The NMDPRA must therefore place domestic refining at the centre of its policy framework, in line with the President’s Nigeria-First policy direction and industrialisation agenda. This is not merely to protect investors, but to safeguard Nigeria’s long-term economic interests.”  

Upstream agenda: Boosting production 

On the upstream side, CPPE urged the NUPRC to prioritise crude oil and gas production growth by implementing policies that attract fresh investments across onshore and offshore assets.

The organisation said Nigeria must maximise the value of its hydrocarbon resources while the global energy transition accelerates.

“The NUPRC should prioritise production growth, investment facilitation and improved security, with a clear national objective of raising crude oil output to a minimum of two million barrels per day,” CPPE advised.

Expanded investment in gas production and strict compliance with domestic crude supply obligations to local refineries were also highlighted as critical priorities.

Resetting Nigeria’s petroleum regulatory architecture 

CPPE commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for resetting Nigeria’s petroleum regulatory architecture through the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers for the NMDPRA and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

According to CPPE, the appointments present a strategic opportunity to reposition the oil and gas regulatory environment in line with the administration’s commitment to energy sovereignty, security, self-reliance, and accelerated production growth.

• He also accused former NMDPRA Managing Director, Ahmed Farouk, of undermining domestic refining efforts by colluding with international oil traders and importers through the continued issuance of petroleum import licences. Dangote further alleged that Farouk funded the education of his children in Switzerland with millions of dollars without evidence of lawful income.

Farouk has since resigned his position as head of the NMDPRA.

The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora has confirmed that all children and staff abducted from St Mary’s Catholic Schools, Papiri, in Niger State have been rescued and reunited with their families.

230 pupils and staff verified as rescued

Rev. Bulus Yohanna, proprietor of the school, said a total of 230 persons, including 204 pupils, 14 students, and 12 staff, were verified to have been abducted and later rescued through the combined efforts of the Federal Government, the Niger State Government, and security agencies.

“A joint verification exercise by the state government, security agencies and school authorities later revealed that not all parents were present during the exercise,” Yohanna said.

He explained that initial confusion after the November 21 abduction led to discrepancies in headcounts.

“Some pupils fled into nearby bushes and did not immediately return for the first headcount, while some parents were absent during verification.”

According to Yohanna, an initial headcount showed 315 persons unaccounted for.

“A second and final verification conducted by the school authorities in collaboration with the Parents-Teachers Association established that an additional 35 persons had either not been abducted or had escaped earlier,” he added.

Yohanna thanked the government, security agencies, parents, the Christian community, the media, and the public for their prayers, patience, and support. He also prayed for healing and restoration for all affected families.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is edging closer to ending physical cargo examination at Apapa Port as preparations intensify for the full deployment of the FS6000 cargo scanner at APM Terminals, Lagos.

The move is move expected to significantly reshape cargo clearance at the country’s busiest maritime gateway.

The scanner, with a throughput capacity of about 200 containers per hour, has completed final test runs and simulation exercises, signalling readiness for operational rollout and a transition to non-intrusive, technology-driven inspections.

The development followed a working visit to the scanning site by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Oluyomi Adebakin, to assess pre-operational readiness and alignment with Customs’ trade modernisation agenda.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman, in a statement, said the initiative was part of a broader strategy to migrate to a paperless clearance environment in line with international best practices and improved trade facilitation.

According to him, the FS6000 scanner has successfully undergone all required simulations, marking a major milestone in Customs’ push to reduce manual intervention in cargo processing at Apapa Port.

Speaking during the inspection, Adebakin said the visit was aimed at ensuring a smooth transition to scanner-based examination.

 She described the deployment as “a critical step in modernising customs operations and improving efficiency at the nation’s busiest port.”

She disclosed that operational preparedness had reached about 80 per cent, noting that outstanding components required for full take-off were being addressed. Adebakin stressed that scanner deployment was a collective responsibility involving the Nigeria Customs Service, APM Terminals, and the Trade Modernisation Project.

Assuring port users of tangible business benefits, she said the scanner would deliver faster cargo clearance, reduced demurrage, improved compliance and enhanced ease of doing business across the port ecosystem.

“The FS6000 scanner has a throughput capacity of about 200 containers per hour,” Adebakin said, highlighting its suitability for high-volume port operations. She added that non-intrusive inspection would eliminate delays and cargo damage associated with physical examinations while also strengthening revenue protection.

On his part, the Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ICT-driven reforms and sustained stakeholder collaboration. He said the deployment underscored Customs’ resolve to modernise port operations, strengthen trade facilitation and improve transparency at Apapa Port.

For maritime operators, the imminent deployment signals a structural shift in cargo handling—one expected to decongest terminals, cut transaction costs and reposition Apapa Port for more competitive regional trade flows.

The Nigerian Army says its troops across theatres have neutralised terrorists and arrested suspected gunrunners in coordinated operations nationwide.

A credible Army Headquarters source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the troops had sustained offensive operations with remarkable successes.

The source said the troops of 1 Brigade Combat Team 3, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, engaged terrorists at a crossing point near Magami village on Wednesday, while on a fighting patrol at Magami town, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara.

It added that two terrorists were neutralised during a firefight as well as recovery of two AK-47 magazines loaded with 39 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one belt of 7.62mm ammunition containing 54 rounds, and other sundry items.

“Similarly, at about 3:30 p.m. the same day, troops engaged terrorists during a fighting patrol around Kangiwa, Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, forcing the criminals to flee.

“Items recovered from the encounter included one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and one motorcycle, while troops continue aggressive patrols to deny terrorists freedom of action.

“In another operation, troops of 17 Brigade, deployed at FOB Malumfashi in Katsina State, foiled a livestock rustling attempt during an ambush between Burdugau and Unguwar Matau villages.

“The terrorists fled after a firefight, abandoning 51 cows, 63 sheep and one donkey, which were later handed over to the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area.”

The source said the troops of 12 Brigade, working with the Department of State Services (DSS), apprehended a suspected gunrunner during a joint operation in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly supplied an AK-47 rifle obtained from Nasarawa State to a criminal in Loko.

“Items recovered included a mobile phone and keypad, while the suspect is currently in DSS custody.

“In the same operation, troops rescued one kidnap victim at Aiyetoro Kiri in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, following the abduction of two civilians in Lokoja Local Government Area on Dec. 19.

“The rescued victim is receiving treatment at a military medical facility.”

The military source revealed that troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), repelled an attempted armed robbery at Tenti Community in Bokkos area of Plateau.

It added that the suspects fled, but six residents sustained injuries and were evacuated to hospital, while a manhunt for the attackers continues.

According to the source, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) apprehended three suspected gunrunners during a joint operation with the DSS at Igoje in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue.

“The suspects have been handed over to the DSS for further investigation.

“The Nigerian Army remains commited to sustaining offensive operations to protect lives, property and national security across the country.” (NAN)

Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, has urged Christians and other Nigerians to continue showing love to one another and embracing peace and unity.

The speaker made the call on Wednesday in his Christmas Message during Church Service at ECWA GoodNews Garaku, Kokona LGA.

Jatau also called on Christians and other Nigerians to provide succour to the less privileged in society to better their standard of living.

The speaker stated that Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, noting that it is a time of gratitude, prayer, and renewal of faith, as well as a celebration of love shared among family and friends.

“On behalf of the Nasarawa State Government and Nasarawa State House of Assembly, I bring you greetings, and I congratulate you on the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ/ Christmas.

“Christmas is a period for us to show ourselves love, affection and give to the needy in society. Let’s share with others, especially those who are less privileged, what we have.

“This will not only give them a sense of belonging but will also improve their standard of living”, Jatau said.

The speaker donated N1,460,000 for the development of the Church.

Jatau called on the people of Kokona LGA and the state at large to continue to support Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed.

The speaker also urged the people of the state to continue to live in unity, peace, and to tolerate one another, irrespective of their affiliations.

He said that John 3:16 said For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. As Christ loves us, we should also love one another,” he added.

United States Congressman, Riley Moore, has stated that President Donald Trump is determined to put an end to the killing of Christians in Nigeria, warning that further action may follow if the violence persists.

Moore made the statement on Friday via his official X handle.

According to the lawmaker, the strike represents the first step in addressing what he described as the ongoing slaughter of Christians and the broader security crisis affecting Nigerians across religious and ethnic lines.

“President Trump has been clear that the killing of Christians in Nigeria must end,” he said.

He that the administration’s resolve on the matter should not be underestimated.

“As I stated at the outset: Do not test President Trump‘s resolved in this matter.

“Tonight’s strike in coordination with the Nigerian government is just the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the security crisis affecting all Nigerians,” he said.
