Oyetola presents revalidated certificate of Ondo deep sea port to Aiyedatiwa

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has formally presented the revalidated certificate for the Ondo deep sea port to the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Oyetola, who presented the certificate to the Governor in his office in Abuja, described the revalidation as a strategic intervention by the Federal Government to unlock Ondo State’s vast maritime and blue economy potential.

The Minister also noted that the deep-sea port would catalyze trade, industrialisation, and regional economic integration.

He said the port aligns with the federal government’s agenda to diversify the economy through maritime infrastructure, logistics, and coastal development.

The Minister, in a statement on Monday by his media aide, Dr Bolaji Akinola, stated, “The Ondo Deep Sea Port is not just a project for Ondo state, it is a national asset that will strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in global shipping, reduce pressure on existing ports, and create a new hub for exports, manufacturing, and job creation.”

Oyetola also explained that the port’s location along the Atlantic corridor would significantly boost non-oil exports, enhance ease of doing business, and attract foreign direct investment into the South-West and the country at large.

“The revalidated licence provides certainty to investors and sends a strong signal that Nigeria is ready for serious maritime investments. With the supporting infrastructure planned around the port, Ondo State is positioning itself as a major player in the blue economy.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council for approving the revalidation, describing the moment as the culmination of years of painstaking effort.

He recalled that the licence, originally obtained during his tenure as deputy governor, had suffered setbacks due to a naming error in the initial business case, which required the preparation of a fresh and comprehensive submission.

“This revalidated certificate is a turning point for Ondo State. It validates our vision for industrial growth, job creation, and sustainable development anchored on our long coastline and maritime assets,” the governor said.

He further explained that his administration was prioritising supporting infrastructure, including the dualisation of access roads to industrial zones and modernisation projects, alongside preparations for residential, educational, and hospitality facilities to cater to the expected influx of workers and investors.

The governor reiterated that the port and associated projects would have a statewide impact, driving inclusive development across all local government areas.

Three suspects lynched as mob burns NSCDC outpost in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has confirmed that a mob attacked its outpost in Danmaje, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, killing three suspects.

In a press statement dated December 29, 2025, and signed by SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Command Public Relations Officer, the NSCDC said the incident happened on Sunday, December 28, around 10:30pm.

According to the statement, residents of Yansango community brought three unknown men, suspected to be motorcycle thieves, to the civil defence outpost in Danmaje.

The area where they were arrested is said to be notorious for motorcycle theft.

Before officers could begin any investigation, people from several nearby communities ,including Yansango, Madinawa, Gagarawa, Limawa, Yankatsari, Danmaje and Gurjiya gathered at the outpost.

The crowd reportedly surrounded the office and demanded that the suspects be released to them.

The statement said the situation quickly got out of control. Before security reinforcements arrived, the mob forced their way into the office, set it on fire and lynched the three suspects.

NSCDC said officers on duty managed to escape, but three of them were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

While calling on the public to remain calm, the corps said the state commandant, acting on the directive of the Commandant General, has set up a committee to investigate the incident.

The aim, according to the statement, is to identify those involved and ensure they are brought to justice.

Two dead, many injured as tanker crashes into parked vehicles in Jos

Two people were confirmed dead on Sunday night after a petroleum tanker crashed into several parked vehicles near the Polo Club Roundabout in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The crash occurred while the driver was descending from the Hill Station junction axis. The tanker reportedly lost control while descending the busy stretch and ploughed into vehicles parked by the roadside.

Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, leaving vehicles badly mangled and trapping occupants before emergency responders arrived.

A resident, who witnessed the incident and took part in the rescue efforts, said six people we’re feared dead while about five others sustained serious injuries.

“The driver noticed that the brakes had failed and alerted his conductor, who began shouting to warn motorists and people nearby,” said David Musa. “Unfortunately, the tanker could not be stopped before it crashed.”

Mr Musa added that both the tanker driver and his conductor were among those who lost their lives.

He said the affected vehicles were damaged beyond repair and were later towed to the ‘A’ Division Police Station along with the tanker.

In a statement, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed only two deaths.

The Public Education Officer of the FRSC in Plateau State, Peter Longsan, said 18 people were involved in the crash.

According to him, two adult males died at the scene, while 16 others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital and Bingham University Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue.

Mr Longsan explained that the tanker suffered brake failure shortly after passing the Plateau State Specialist Hospital Roundabout and continued descending until it crashed into parked vehicles.

He said emergency responders promptly cordoned off the area, diverted traffic, and safely offloaded the tanker’s petroleum content to prevent a possible fire outbreak. He added that no fuel spillage was recorded.

The FRSC urged motorists to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and exercise caution, especially during the festive period, while encouraging members of the public to report road emergencies through its toll-free number, 122.

Vitafoam in 2025: FX relief fuels profit growth, but inventory buildup demands caution

Vitafoam in 2025: FX relief fuels profit growth, but inventory buildup demands caution

Vitafoam may be on watchlists after an eye-catching rally in 2025, buoyed by strong revenue and profit growth.

Vitafoam set a new 52-week high of N94.60 on December 24, 2025, capping off a stellar year for the stock.

Having started 2025 at N23.00, the share price is now up 311%, ranking Vitafoam as the 10th best-performing stock on the NGX year-to-date.

Over the past four weeks alone, the stock has gained 13%, placing it 28th in short-term performance.

That kind of momentum, paired with a sharp earnings rebound and a tripled dividend, is most likely to keep investors having the stock and on analysts’ watchlists.

Vitafoam’s growth story in 2025 was powered not just by top-line expansion, but by what it didn’t lose – foreign exchange.

The foam segment continued to dominate revenue, contributing over 98% of group sales, which rose by 35% to N111.4 billion, reflecting steady demand and price increases.

Gross profit grew in line with revenue, up 35% to N41 billion, as gross margins remained relatively stable at 36.77%, up slightly from 36.50%.

While this shows Vitafoam was able to preserve pricing power despite inflationary pressures, it was not enough on its own to explain the company’s earnings jump.

The real story unfolds at the operating line. With foreign exchange losses dropping sharply to just N619 million from N12.7 billion in 2024, the company’s cost base was significantly lighter.

As a result, a much larger portion of gross profit flowed through to the operating line. Operating profit soared to N27.28 billion, up 258%, and operating margin more than doubled to 24.5% from 9.4%.

This strong operating performance lifted profit before tax to N27.28 billion, from just N7.62 billion a year earlier.

The FX relief not only shielded earnings from volatility but also amplified Vitafoam’s profitability without the company having to drive significant cost restructuring or margin expansion in its core business.

It was, in effect, a clean and direct boost to the bottom line, which also allowed the company to increase dividends and improve cash flows.

Backed by this improvement, the board proposed a N3.00 dividend per share, up from N1.05 last year.

But as ever, not everything is clean. The results also revealed a buildup in inventory, which rose by 40% to N28.73 billion, now making up 44% of total assets.

This contributed to a working capital cycle that lengthened to 118 days (from 86), suggesting slower inventory turnover or a strategic stock-up.

While the current ratio improved to 2.23x, showing liquidity strength, the cash conversion efficiency will need close monitoring going forward.

It suggests that while the company was profitable on paper, a significant portion of that value is tied up in unsold goods, which, if not quickly converted into sales, could pressure liquidity in the near term.

At a current price of N94.60, Vitafoam trades at 9x its FY2025 earnings (EPS: N10.80), a seemingly fair multiple after a 311% rally with earnings per share growth of 3,624% in 2025 FY.

But what happens if earnings grow at its more sustainable 5-year CAGR of 33%?

If the company can deliver steady, organic earnings growth not driven by FX swings, the current price still undervalues its future potential.

By 2026, EPS could climb to around N14.36, based on a realistic 33% CAGR. That suggests room for further upside.

But to justify and sustain that outlook, Vitafoam must tightly manage inventory, improve working capital efficiency, and continue navigating macro risks with discipline.

Fubara free to join APC, but 2027 win isn’t guaranteed

Wike clarifies: Fubara free to join APC, but 2027 win isn’t guaranteed

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has clarified that the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, is free to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) without seeking his consent.

However, Wike emphasised that joining the ruling party does not automatically secure Fubara a ticket for the 2027 elections.

Fubara’s defection to APC: A strategic move ahead of 2027

Fubara switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC in early December after a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

He stated that his move was aimed at offering full support to the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Minister responds to allegations of bias in Rivers state politics

Wike, speaking during his monthly media chat at his Port Harcourt country home, noted that Fubara’s defection was not surprising.

He explained that several members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and council chairmen had already moved to APC, making Fubara’s decision a natural progression.

I cannot stop anybody from associating with any party. Leaving PDP doesn’t guarantee anyone an automatic ticket. You must earn the mandate of the people,” Wike said.

The minister also addressed accusations that he was allegedly working to favour APC, pointing out that many who criticised him had themselves defected.

He stressed the importance of working hard to earn political positions rather than assuming entitlement.

NIRSAL guarantees N100bn Agric loans in 2025

NIRSAL guarantees N100bn Agric loans in 2025

Emma Ujah, Abuja Bureau Chief

The Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) Plc guaranteed over N100 billion agricultural and agribusiness loans in 2025.

The financial institution, established by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to boost the flow of credit to the sector,! disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, yesterday.

“NIRSAL Plc is closing 2025 with total approved credit guarantees for over N100 billion in loans and investments in agriculture and agribusinesses across Nigeria, enabling partner financial institutions to extend credit to value chain activities that would otherwise fall outside their risk appetites.

“This milestone, NIRSAL’s highest annual finance facilitated to date, demonstrates the institution’s continued success in de-risking agricultural value chains, improving access to finance for agribusinesses, strengthening lender confidence in Nigeria’s agriculture sector, and deepening financial inclusion,” it said.

The Managing Director (MD) of NIRSAL, Sa’ad Hamidu, was quoted as saying, “the accomplishment underscores the power of structured risk-sharing models, strong partnerships with financial institutions, and the resilience of Nigeria’s agribusiness entrepreneurs.”

The MD added, “NIRSAL is focused on drawing the attention of potential partners across the agrifinance value chain to NIRSAL’s value proposition for safe, profitable, and sustainable investments in Nigeria’s agriculture sector.”

Growing Value Chains and Banks’ On-Balance Sheet Agro Portfolios

NIRSAL’s partnerships with commercial banks and other lending institutions, he said, supported critical activities across the agricultural value chain, including commodity export, agro-processing, input supply, primary production, storage, warehousing, and logistics.

On the other hand, the MD noted NIRSAL’s technical assistance programs, field monitoring, and project mapping protocols continue to unlock opportunities for actors across the agriculture-to-market continuum.

On the institution’s role as a de-risking institution and facilitator rather than a lender, he said that while substantial financial capital exists to transform Nigeria’s agriculture sector, the inherent risks in the value chains continue to discourage lending.

“The ₦100 billion milestone recorded this year therefore reflects a major shift—from hesitation to increased confidence—driven largely by NIRSAL’s credit risk guarantees and robust risk management frameworks, which reassure lenders and enable them to expand their investments in agriculture,” Hamidu said.

Partners and Financiers Reaffirm Confidence

The NIRSAL boss said Financial Institutions were increasingly relying on NIRSAL’s credit risk guarantees and value chain risk management tools for risk-mitigation, enabling them to scale up agricultural portfolios, optimise capital deployment, and meet both commercial and development objectives.

He said, “The 2025 results reflect deepening collaboration and growing understanding of NIRSAL’s finance facilitation model, and wider acceptance of its credit risk guarantee.

“To date, NIRSAL has signed 41 master agreements with counterparties committed to jointly financing agriculture and agribusiness in Nigeria.

“The institution also strengthened its strategic positioning for mobilizing alternative finance into agricultural value chains.

“As a Delivery Partner to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for climate finance readiness, NIRSAL is delivering extensive capacity development programs nationwide and is optimistic that Nigeria will secure sizeable climate finance inflows in the near future.”

Commitment to Scaling Agriculture Production

Drawing from insights gained through past national and sub-national smallholder financing schemes, Hamidu said NIRSAL refined its program management offerings for sub-national governments, private agribusiness investors, and cooperative-led primary production clusters, with improved protocols for farmer onboarding, capacity-building, geo-mapping, soil testing, and mechanization support to enhance production outcomes.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As NIRSAL prepares for 2026, the MD said it remaind committed to expanding its finance facilitation footprint, supporting climate-smart agriculture, strengthening sectoral resilience, and enhancing the competitiveness of Nigeria’s agribusiness ecosystem.

“Our journey is far from over,” he said, adding, “In fact, it is only just beginning. We will continue to innovate, deepen partnerships, and scale solutions that reduce risks and unlock finance for Nigeria’s agriculture sector. With the support of our Board of Directors and the dedication of our people, 2026 will see NIRSAL further scale its contribution towards agriculture transformation.”

Loans guaranteed by NIRSAL were described as good portfolios recording as low as just 0.8 percent Non-Performing Loans.

Gunmen Open Fire On Herders, Injure 5 In Plateau

Unknown gunmen on Sunday opened fire on herders at Conoil Fueling Station along Bukuru Expressway in Jos South Local Government Area Of Plateau State, injuring five herders.

Plateau State chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Yusuf Babayo, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that a Peugeot J5 open-body vehicle which was conveying eight herders had stopped to purchase fuel at the filling station when the assailants opened fire on them.

Also speaking on the incident, the Deputy Chairman of Kara Market, Dauda Adam Ciroma, described the attack as deadly, saying the herders were attacked around 7:30pm.

Dauda explained that police officers quickly arrived at the scene immediately after the attack, and participated actively in evacuating the victims to the hospital.

“It was the police and I who took them to the hospital. They were badly injured with all of them sustaining fractures and had bullet wounds,“ he said.

Babayo in a statement on Monday, explained that the incident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday, adding that the victims were on their way back from Kara Market – a cattle market in Bukuru – when three gunmen on motorcycle trailed them to the filling station and opened fire on them before fleeing the scene.

“The victims were initially rushed to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) but were later moved to The Potters Specialist Hospital, Jos for treatment due to the ongoing strike in the government hospital.

“This attack is unprovoked because the herders were just buying fuel. The gunmen targeted the herders, and that is why they directly attacked their vehicle and fled.

“This has become a dangerous trend threatening the existence of Fulani herders in the state.

“We will not relent in calming our members and urging them to remain calm because we believe the incessant attacks against us are meant to provoke us,” he said.

Babayo called on security forces to investigate the incident and arrest the perpetrators.

“We are urging the security agencies in the state to wake up to this dangerous trend and arrest it immediately because our lives, wherever we are – in communities, grazing fields, markets, and other places – are no longer safe, “ the chairman added.

The spokespersons of Operation Enduring Peace and State Police Command, Major Samson Zhakom and SP Alabo Alfred, were yet to respond to the inquiry by our correspondent regarding the incident.

FRSC blames ‘excessive speed’, ‘wrongful overtaking’ for accident

British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua invovled in a Road accident in Ogun State

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has blamed ‘excessive speed’ and ‘wrongful overtaking’ for the accident involving boxing champion, Anthony Joshua.

Joshua was involved in an accident near Sagamu, Ogun State on Monday, with two of his associates from the United Kingdom losing their lives.

Reacting to the incident in a statement signed by Assistant Corps Marshal,
Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC said the accident could have been avoided were it not for ‘over speeding’ and ‘wrongful overtaking’.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps wishes to confirm a fatal road traffic crash that occurred today Monday, 29 December 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, around the Sinoma area near Sagamu, Ogun State, involving a Lexus Jeep conveying world-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, and a stationary truck,” Ogungbemide said.

“Preliminary reports from the Ogun Sector Command indicate that the crash occurred at about 1200HRS and was promptly reported to the Corps. FRSC operatives arrived at the scene within three (3) minutes of notification, enabling swift rescue operations, evacuation of victims, effective traffic control, and prevention of secondary crashes.

“The incident involved two vehicles: a black Lexus Jeep with registration number KRD 850 HN (private) and a stationary red commercial Sinotruck with unknown registration number. A total of five adult males were involved in the crash. Two persons sadly lost their lives, one sustained injuries, while two others escaped unhurt. Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and sustained minor injuries.

The injured victim was evacuated for medical attention, while the remains of the deceased were conveyed to Livewell Morgue, Ajaka, Sagamu. The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division (MTD) was duly notified for further investigation and necessary documentation.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the Lexus Jeep, which was suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor, lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and crashed into a stationary truck well packed by the side of the road.

“The primary causes of the crash being excessive speed and wrongful overtaking constitute serious traffic violations and remain among the leading causes of fatal road crashes on Nigerian highways.”

To this end, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed on behalf of the entire Management and staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured victim, Joshua a speedy recovery.

The FRSC has reiterated its warning to motorists to avoid dangerous overtaking, excessive speed, and disregard for traffic regulations, particularly on high-speed corridors such as the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

Motorists have also been urged to exercise patience, maintain lane discipline, and prioritise safety over haste, especially during the festive travel period.

The FRSC has further reminded the public that the Corps remains resolute in its mandate to ensure safer roads, prompt emergency response, and sustained public education aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and fatalities across Nigeria.

Gov Lawal Appoints Ex-AIG Dalijan As Zamfara CPG Commandant

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, as the new State Commandant of the Community Protection Guards.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was disclosed on Monday, December 29, by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada.

Nakwada said the governor has also ordered a comprehensive overhaul of the Community Protection Guards to address lingering operational and administrative challenges affecting the agency’s efficiency and service delivery.

According to him, the restructuring is aimed at repositioning the outfit to better support the state’s security architecture, particularly in tackling banditry and other criminal activities across Zamfara.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Suleman Ahmad Tudu, the government said Dalijan brings over 30 years of experience in policing, security management and leadership to the role.

The statement noted that the retired AIG has strong expertise in community-based policing, counter-terrorism operations and internal security management.

“Dr. Dalijan served as Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State between 2023 and 2025 and is well familiar with the security terrain and peculiar challenges of the state,” the statement read.

Dalijan has held several strategic positions across the country, including Police Component Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East, Deputy Commandant of the Police College, Kaduna, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Rivers State.

He also served as Coordinator of Operation Restore Peace in the South-South region.

Until his retirement in June 2025, Dalijan was the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Counter-Terrorism at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The new Commandant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, as well as Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Criminology from the University of Abuja.

Governor Lawal expressed confidence that Dalijan’s experience and familiarity with Zamfara’s security challenges would help reposition the Community Protection Guards to effectively deliver on its mandate in line with the administration’s rescue agenda.

The governor also commended the immediate past Commandant for his service to the state, prayed for his speedy recovery and assured him of the government’s continued support.

Ododo Flags Off APC E-Registration At His Ward

calls for Massive Participation

The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday officially flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic registration exercise at his Upogoro Ward in Okene Local Government Area of the state.

The ceremony, which marked the formal commencement of the APC e-registration programme across Kogi State, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters who converged to witness the Governor revalidate his membership on the digital platform.

Speaking shortly after completing his online registration, Governor Ododo called on Kogites to seize the opportunity to register en masse as members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, describing the initiative as a major step in strengthening internal democracy and party organisation.

He noted that the e-registration platform responds to the growing interest of Nigerians who desire to identify with the party’s progressive ideology and reform agenda.

“Hundreds of thousands of people have been clamouring to register as members of our party.

“This platform has created the opportunity to achieve that seamlessly, thanks to our performing President and the national leadership of the party.”

Governor Ododo attributed the renewed confidence in the APC to the bold reforms and leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the party has become increasingly attractive to Nigerians because of great improvements in the economy.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made our party the most attractive in Nigeria today. His policies are yielding results. The economy is gradually stabilising, the naira is strengthening, food prices are easing, and agriculture is taking centre stage once again.

“The beginning was tough, but it was necessary to build a stronger and more resilient nation.”

The Governor expressed confidence that Nigerians would reward the President’s courage and reforms with renewed trust, noting that the people have faith in his leadership and vision for the country.

Governor Ododo further charged party leaders at all levels to ensure a smooth and massive rollout of the e-registration exercise across the state, describing it as a clear demonstration that the APC is leading Nigeria into a new era of digital party management.

He directed the highest political appointee in each Local Government Area to work closely with council chairmen and key stakeholders of the party to guarantee the success of the exercise in their respective councils.

“Let us open our doors wide for others to join the progressive family. Everyone who comes into this party is welcome and will be treated as an equal stakeholder,” he assured.

Reaffirming his commitment to good governance, Governor Ododo pledged to continue delivering on the promises made to the people of Kogi State, despite the commendations his administration has continued to receive.

Since assuming office, the Governor has recorded notable achievements across critical sectors, including the strengthening of security architecture through enhanced collaboration with federal agencies and local hunters, improved access to healthcare services, renewed focus on rural electrification, rehabilitation of key road networks, and sustained investments in education and youth empowerment.

His administration has also prioritised agricultural development to boost food security and support farmers across the state.

Governor Ododo stressed that the positive feedback from the people would only motivate him to work harder, declaring that his administration would not “take its foot off the pedal” in the drive to build a safer, more prosperous, and inclusive Kogi State.

Two Dead as Ogun Govt Confirms Fatal Crash Involving Anthony Joshua — Akelicious

The Ogun State Government has expressed profound condolences to the families, friends, and associates of the victims of a tragic road accident involving world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, who narrowly escaped death on Monday.

The fatal accident occurred along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, within the Makun axis of Ogun State, and sadly claimed the lives of two persons. Anthony Joshua and three other individuals were reportedly travelling from Lagos to Sagamu at the time of the incident.

Preliminary reports indicate that two male foreign nationals died on the spot. Their remains have since been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu. Anthony Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were promptly rescued by security personnel attached to his convoy and taken to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

The sport utility vehicle conveying the occupants was said to have rammed into a stationary truck along the expressway. While the severely damaged vehicle has been evacuated to the Sagamu Motor Traffic Division (MTD) office, efforts are ongoing to tow the truck involved to the same location to facilitate a comprehensive investigation.

The Ogun State Government describes the incident as deeply unfortunate and painful, particularly with the loss of precious lives, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving medical care.

Motorists are therefore urged to exercise utmost caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season when vehicular movement is typically heavy. Road safety officers and other security agencies are also enjoined to intensify surveillance and enforcement efforts across the State to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Our hearts go out to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident, which the State considers a devastating loss. As we mourn collectively, we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured. May Almighty God grant the families left behind.
