Bad Bunny has been officially announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show, making history as the first solo reggaeton artist to take on the biggest stage in American sports. The performance will take place on February 8,2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Over the past few months, fans were buzzing with guesses about who would perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. Big names like Adele and Taylor Swift kept coming up, and many thought Adele was seriously being considered. Some people even thought that both of them had said no to the offer. But in the end, it turns out that neither pop star will be performing whether by their own choice or not. Reports say Adele likely passed on the opportunity, just like she was rumored to have done back in 2017. And even though Taylor Swift is one of the biggest stars in the world, it looks like she won’t be taking the stage either.

Instead, the spotlight turns to Bad Bunny, whose global influence and cultural impact made him a powerful and exciting choice. The Puerto Rican superstar shared a personal message after the announcement, writing, “What I feel goes beyond myself. It’s for all those who came before me, who ran miles so I could score this try. It’s for my people, my culture, and our history.”

The upcoming halftime performance will be his only U.S. date during that period, as his global tour which includes stops in Paris and Marseille intentionally skips the United States. The decision is reportedly tied to concerns about immigration policies and the potential for ICE activity near concert venues, something the artist has previously spoken out about.

Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation has overseen the halftime show since 2019, praised the decision, stating, “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the biggest stage in the world.”

Bad Bunny is following the path of Latin stars Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, who performed together at the Super Bowl in 2020. But this time, he’ll be doing it alone — making history as the first solo reggaeton artist to headline the show.

Last year, Kendrick Lamar performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. It was a huge success, with more people watching than ever before, and it even got four Emmy nominations. Now, the stage is set for the next big show on February 8, 2026.
