The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has confirmed the draw for the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals, setting up two high-profile clashes to kick off the new year.
Barcelona will square off against Athletic Club, while rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will renew their fierce derby battle on the other side of the bracket.
The competition will once again be staged in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with matches scheduled between January 7 and January 11 at the King Abdullah Sports City.
The venue has become a regular stage for Spanish football in recent years, hosting the Super Cup since its relocation abroad.
Barcelona head into the tournament as defending champions. Under Hansi Flick last season, the Catalans demolished Real Madrid 5-2 in the final, spectacularly sealing the Treble.
The format of the Super Cup has evolved from its traditional two-team showdown. It now features a four-team mini-tournament, with La Liga’s top two sides joining the Copa del Rey finalists to battle for the trophy.
