Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba has spoken of how his love for Osimhen has upset certain sections of his fanbase.
Didier Drogba has revealed that his vocal support for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen often draws criticism from his own Ivory Coast football fans.
Osimhen, who has cemented his status as Africa’s hottest striker after scoring a hat-trick to send Nigeria into the World Cup playoffs, has long admired Drogba, who was one of the world’s best marksmen in his playing days.

In a recent interview, Drogba admitted that he sees a reflection of his own playing style in the Nigerian, but noted the reaction from his compatriots:
“Because of him, people from Ivory Coast complain and tell me to go with my Osimhen,” Drogba said.
He emphasized that Osimhen’s journey makes him a figure of inspiration across the continent.

He then added, “Osimhen is the kind of person that should inspire the youth, he came from nowhere and then (he’s successful).”
The ex-Napoli striker is an integral part of Galatasaray’s plans for success this season and beyond and will be expected to lead the Super Eagles’ charge once again when they face Gabon in the World Cup playoffs starting in November.
