Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen is set to stay at Galatasaray for years to come

Victor Osimhen’s red-hot form at Galatasaray has sent shockwaves through Europe, but the Turkish champions have made one thing crystal clear: their Nigerian superstar is not for sale.

Club officials have publicly denied rumours of a release clause, leaving Premier League suitors like Arsenal kicking themselves for not sealing the deal when they had the chance.

Galatasaray shut the door on Osimhen exit rumours

Speaking at a signing ceremony, Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek confirmed that there is no release clause in Osimhen’s contract, effectively ending speculation of a potential quick exit.

“Although the transfer fee was debated as high at the time,” Özbek explained, “today the football community thinks the amount paid was low and the player’s value is much higher.”

Victor Osimhen is now the first Galatasaray player to score in seven consecutive European matches.

His words were echoed by Abdullah Kavukcu, vice chair of Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş., who boldly declared, “If 75 million euros is all it takes, then anyone can go and sign him.”

Kavukcu added that Osimhen had received “a much higher offer elsewhere” but still chose to join Galatasaray, highlighting both the club’s ambition and Osimhen’s commitment.

The leadership reiterated their focus on strengthening the squad without selling their key players, a statement that delighted fans and underlined Galatasaray’s growing European stature.

Arsenal fans fume as Osimhen shines in Europe

Meanwhile, Arsenal supporters are watching from afar, full of regret. Sky Sports journalist Dougie Critchley, a well-known Gooner, summed up the sentiment after Osimhen’s electrifying brace in Galatasaray’s 3–1 Champions League win over Bodo/Glimt, calling him “a potential Ballon d’Or contender.”

On X (formerly Twitter), Critchley lamented, “No disrespect to Galatasaray but we really missed out on a potential Ballon d’Or contender in Victor Osimhen. 42 goals, 8 assists in 49 games since joining the Turkish giants.”

He continued, praising Osimhen’s record-breaking efficiency: “Only Mbappé has got more shots on target. Only Mbappé has racked up more XG. 75% of his shots are on target — of players to take at least 10 shots, Nicolas Jackson is next best on 60%.”

With seven consecutive goals in European matches and a Player of the Match performance to his name, Osimhen’s star continues to rise, and Arsenal’s regret continues to grow.
