Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks threatening military intervention in Nigeria, allegedly to protect Christians.
In a strongly worded statement, Sowore warned that such rhetoric is dangerous and should not be celebrated by any Nigerian, regardless of religion or belief.
“The latest threat by Donald Trump to launch military action in Nigeria may sound appealing to some, but history has shown this to be perilous,” Sowore said. “Whether you are Christian, Muslim, animist, or non-religious, no one should rejoice over such talk.”

He pointed to the United States’ long record of failed interventions across the globe, citing Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria as examples where foreign military action left countries more unstable and divided.
According to Sowore, what Nigeria needs is not foreign interference but genuine, accountable leadership that protects all citizens and addresses the root causes of insecurity and corruption.
“Our nation doesn’t need a foreign savior; it needs leaders who care about justice and equality. Donald Trump does not care about Nigerians not Christians, Muslims, or anyone else,” he said.
Sowore further criticized Nigeria’s current leadership, asserting that the solution to the country’s problems lies in internal reform and national renewal.
“Our deliverance will never come from abroad; it must come from within through real leadership, not the Tinubus of this world,” he added.
