In a video, she said the rider attempted delivery but the customer missed his call because she was in the bathroom. When the customer later called back, the rider allegedly replied rudely, telling her “not to ever call him again.”

She further claimed that during another delivery, the rider kept the parfait “from around 1pm till about 6pm” without delivering or returning it. When it was eventually brought back, she alleged the fruits were missing, suggesting it had been eaten. According to her, this was not the first incident, yet the rider was still paid.

The rider later responded online, accusing the seller of making advances toward him, an allegation she strongly denied in a follow-up video.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Northern Nigeria, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, has said faith-based violence remains a serious threat to national unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that no Nigerian deserves to be killed on account of religion, tribe and section.

Hayab made the assertions in a statement he issued in Akure, the Ondo State capital, when he paid a condolence visit to the Catholic Bishop of the Ondo Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Jude Arogundade, over the June 2022 terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, which claimed the lives of over 40 worshippers during a Sunday Mass.

He described the Owo massacre and other similar attacks in several parts of the country, particularly in the North as a national tragedy.

The visit, according to the statement, was aimed at personally identifying with the diocese, encouraging survivors and families and reaffirming the solidarity of Northern Christians with communities affected by terror attacks nationwide.

Hayab advised governments at all levels to prioritise the protection of lives, ensure justice for victims by taking decisive action against perpetrators, saying that peace and national cohesion cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and impunity.

He opined that no Nigerian deserves to die on account of his or her faith, stressing that what happened in Owo concerns every Nigerian, which has repeatedly occurred in the North with the pain being experienced everywhere.

Speaking during the visit, former Chairman of CAN in Ondo State and former President of the Ondo State Baptist Conference, Rev. Dr. Ayo Oladapo, described Bishop Arogundade as a father figure and a unifying voice for Christians in the state and beyond, adding that the suffering of one part of the Christian body affects the whole.

Leading the delegation to Bishop Arogundade, Rev. Fr. Anslem Ologunwa, Chairman of CAN in Ondo State, explained the personal journey of 15 years as Bishop of the diocese and 35 years in priesthood.

He noted the care extended to victims, including a survivor permanently in a wheelchair following a double amputation, stressing that the pain of the victims remains a collective responsibility for the Church and the nation.

He explained that about 60 children of the victims are benefiting from five-year scholarships under the church in various tertiary institutions, while the church continues to support families affected by the tragedy.

Bishop Arogundade, in his response thanked Hayab for the visit, describing it as a strong gesture of empathy and unity, pointing out that the visit reinforced the message that the Church remains united across regions and denominations in the face of violence.

The Bishop hailed the Kaduna State government for sponsoring the first Christmas carol aimed at countering the divisive phase left behind by the previous administration, thanking the efforts of some political leaders to unite the country.

He lamented the brutal loss of lives during the Owo massacre, recounting the horrific injuries suffered by some victims, including children, appealing to government authorities to take decisive action to ensure that citizens can live together in peace.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intensified nationwide enforcement to rid major highways of dangerous drivers and curb life-threatening practices as millions of Nigerians embark on Christmas holiday and end-of-year journeys.

Naija News reports that the Corps Marshal, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, disclosed this on Monday during a strategic monitoring of vehicular movement in Kaduna, as part of the corps’ ongoing Zero Tolerance special operation for the festive season.

Mohammed said the corps had massively deployed officers and logistics to major corridors linking Kaduna, Abuja and Lokoja, following a noticeable increase in traffic in recent days, particularly along the Abuja–Lokoja Road.

“The end-of-year patrol for the Kaduna and Abuja axis has been massively deployed today to the Lokoja–Abuja Road, where we noticed significant traffic movement over the past three days,” he said.

According to him, the monitoring exercise was also extended to the Abuja-Kaduna Road due to ongoing construction works that could worsen congestion if not properly managed.

“We also decided to come to the Abuja–Kaduna Road where construction is ongoing, to ensure free flow of traffic and prevent unnecessary obstruction,” Mohammed added.

The Corps Marshal explained that the special operation was not limited to traffic control but also focused on removing drivers who pose serious risks to other road users.

“The zero tolerance operation is aimed not only at traffic control but also at removing drivers who pose serious risks to other road users.

“We are here to ensure that drivers engaged in speeding, driving under influence, distracted driving and other dangerous behaviours are removed from the road.

“This is to ensure that responsible drivers, passengers, commuters and other road users can move freely,” he stated.

Mohammed disclosed that the monitoring team would return to the Abuja–Lokoja corridor after the Kaduna exercise to sustain enforcement and traffic management.

Commenting on the traffic situation observed so far, the FRSC boss said vehicular movement was still relatively low in the early hours but was expected to increase as the day progressed.

“So far this morning, traffic is low and not as heavy as expected, but we believe that as the hours go by, it will build up. That is why we are here early, to address issues before they escalate,” he said.

Mohammed expressed concern over the widespread practice of overloading, particularly mixed loading involving passengers and goods on trucks, describing it as dangerous and unacceptable.

“We have observed cases of overloading, especially mixed loading, on this route.

“That is why we are ensuring that passengers carried on top of trucks are brought down and made to continue their journey in safer vehicles,” he said.

Nationwide Directive To Sector Commanders

On nationwide enforcement, the Corps Marshal said all sector commanders across the federation had been directed to ensure early deployment to identified traffic hotspots throughout the festive period.

He explained that the directive was meant to ensure the presence of FRSC personnel in areas that usually experience traffic challenges during end-of-year travels.

Mohammed added that reports from the past three days showed that FRSC personnel, including regular and special marshals, were already fully engaged nationwide.

“Our officers, marshals and special marshals are on the roads controlling traffic and supporting road users, and we will continue this operation throughout the festive period and into January,” he said.

The FRSC boss urged motorists to conduct themselves with discipline, patience and respect for other road users, calling for restraint and cooperation during the festive rush.

He warned that the corps would not tolerate intimidation or bullying on the roads, stressing that such drivers would be removed to ensure smooth traffic flow.

“We will not allow bullying or intimidation by any driver.

“Anyone found engaging in such behaviour will be taken off the road to ensure everyone reaches their destination safely and enjoys the festivities as they should,” Mohammed warned.

The Nigerian presidency has announced the successful rescue of the remaining 130 schoolchildren abducted by bandits from St Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State. The students were freed on Sunday, December 21, following a strategic military-intelligence-led operation.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development via a statement on X. He noted that this final group brings the total number of freed students to 230, after 100 others were released earlier by the terrorists.

According to Onanuga:

“The remaining 130 schoolchildren abducted by terrorists at St Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, on November 21, have now been released. They are expected to arrive in Minna on Monday and rejoin their parents for the Christmas celebration.”

The students are expected to arrive in Minna today, Monday, December 22, to be reunited with their families in time for the holidays. This rescue marks the conclusion of a month-long ordeal for the Papiri community following the mass abduction in late November.

From the explanations he made in the video, it was clear the school did not recognize him as their student.

He said he has written so many letters to different authorities in the school but he was still not given his certificate.

“I spent 8 years and the school refused to give me my certificate. I studied law. First of all, in the first year, we didn’t even do anything, we were just on strike. Then they merged us with another set and we started from there. As at when we got to 300 level, they changed the school portal from record soft to OOU portal. So when we were using record soft, we were able to pay like 60% and pay 40% later. So by the time they moved to OOU portal, we were not even informed. We just got information that we have to pay into another portal. And by that time, our 60% that we have paid was nowhere to be found, so we couldn’t write exams. From there, the problem started. Most of the students left.”

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has criticised the attitude of many Nigerians towards vote-buying and vote-selling during elections.

The Federal Government has designated kidnappers and violent armed groups as terrorists, escalating Nigeria’s response to abductions, attacks on farmers and community violence.

The announcement was made by Information Minister Mohammed Idris at the end-of-the-year press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

This signals a shift from treating mass kidnappings and rural attacks as ordinary crimes to confronting them with full counterterrorism measures.

What Idris said 

Idris said the new designation gives security agencies broader authority to pursue, disrupt and dismantle criminal groups terrorising communities.

“Henceforth, any armed group or individual that kidnaps our children, attacks our farmers, and terrorises our communities is officially classified and will be dealt with as a terrorist,” the minister said.

He added that the policy shift would strengthen intelligence sharing and operational coordination across security and intelligence agencies, enabling faster and more decisive responses.

Highlighting recent progress, Idris disclosed that improved collaboration had already yielded results.

“In 2025, two of the most internationally wanted criminals were captured through the coordination of our security agencies and those in the intelligence community,” he said.

The tougher stance comes amid growing concern over the use of forests and remote rural areas by kidnappers, bandits and insurgent groups as safe havens, particularly in farming and border communities.

According to the minister, the forest guard initiative is intended to close these gaps by combining surveillance, local intelligence and rapid-response capabilities in hard-to-reach areas.

“Trained and equipped forest guards will be deployed to secure our forests and other vulnerable locations,” Idris said, stressing that criminal groups would no longer enjoy ungoverned spaces.

The move builds on earlier efforts to boost inter-agency coordination and strengthen territorial control beyond major cities.

In total, 4,722 Nigerians were kidnapped in 997 incidents, while 762 people lost their lives in abduction-related violence.

According to the hospital, the continued circulation of what it described as incomplete and distorted narratives made it necessary to clarify the circumstances surrounding Mrs.

The hospital stated that the deceased was attended to by qualified and experienced medical professionals who acted promptly and in accordance with established medical standards and protocols.

It maintained that all reasonable and available medical interventions were deployed in sustained efforts to save her life, including extraordinary measures such as voluntary blood donation by compatible members of its medical and management team.

Gynescope Specialist Hospital said some reports fail to present a full or balanced account of events and risk unfairly calling into question the professionalism and integrity of healthcare workers involved in what it described as a case of non-obstetric mortality.

The hospital added that it remains fully cooperative with relevant regulatory and statutory authorities and reaffirmed its commitment to ethical medical practice and patient-centred care.
